Hi everyone, I'm... that... guy who just registered. Anyway, i have some ideas about maps that i've been working on. if by chance u've seen my maps on bnet, then you'll know that my maps are good but are too short, and unfortunately take too long to eternity to finish. i guess i just need some motivation and fellow map makers to back me up. the grammar'll get better when i start typing faster...
Here are the general description of two maps i've been working on:
World of Starcraft: kinda like the WOW game blizzard's beta testing right now, if you think Marine Boot Camp it may be a better image. WOS basically is a grander scale of, in a way, an RPG based on the Starcraft world.
I know that others who tried this idea have failed, as it seems people just don't care for unmodified unit names and poorly written storylines following the SC theme. Fortunately, WOS would be different, but I really didn't bother modifying unit stats (i did add color to names, etc.)
If you've ever played Marine Boot Camp you probably really liked it, and like i said WOS is going to build on that. So far i've been working on terran units, but later i just have to add on the zerg and protoss side of the game, since the World part wouldn't be complete otherwise.
Right now i only have 1 mission and 3 units (SCV, marine, medic: pretty basic units) that players can choose from, and the mission's kinda buggy. With missions and training, the players can, of course, choose more advanced units. I'll work on making a unit leveling tree ( i really don't know what it's called properly) in bitmap format or something to provide a visual of what training units go through... or i'll just type it up on a forum for even more crap for y'all to read. Sorry.
Speaking of which, i'll cut to the chase and get to my second map: Majesty RPG. Majesty: the Fantasy Kingdom Sim was one of the many games that were innovative but just lacked the oomph to get really popular. In the actual Majesty game, the player could not control the heroes. In Majesty RPG (my map), the players each take control of a unit and do quests.
Sorry again there's so much stuff to read, but hopefully my extra spaces helped make everything easy to read.
So guys, what do you think of this new addition (me

) to the staredit network?
