Please explain how Sonoco's entire maps folder is now in our DLDB.
All the maps have NO descriptions.
28 of the maps were ALL accepted in LESS than 20 minutes(Less than a minute per map).
About one hour earlier, 11 maps were accepted over the course of approximately 11 minutes.
As far as I know, maps that havn't been accepted yet will not appear on the front page or in a search. Either that or I am misunderstanding two things. When it sais "time", is it the submission time? Will nonaccepted maps appear in a search?
Anyway, somebody had better explain.
The time listed is submission time. When I do the dldb, I view each file, then mass approve. I don't approve after each file, its so tedious.
As to how he uploaded 28 maps in less than 28 minutes, I have no idea.
Descriptions are up to the person submitting them. It would really weigh down on the DLDB keepers if we had to add a semi-detailed description to each map submitted without one. It already takes a lot of time to generate the screenshots for them because almost NOBODY submits screenshots with their map (before AND after IP removed them - I'm still generating them and adding them because they will still be there for v5).
If you see descriptionless maps in the future, just delete them.

Well I know that I, for one, cannot submit a screenshot of my map because I don't have any program that can take a shot of the minimap like the SCX to JPG converter or whatever you PC owners have. And I can't take in-game shots because the screen gets messed up and the picture comes out black. So its not like all of us are lazy or anything, some of us just
can't do it.
We prefer for people to do it, but some people have trouble, dont know how, cant do it, or yes, are lazy.
But, we'd prefer to have screenshots with all maps anyways, so everyone knows what they're downloading anyway.
By the complaint, I chucked out the other 45 maps he submitted after, I guess he was pulling a Puni and uploading his /maps/ folder to be top submitter.
How do you go about making joining the DLDB team?
Well if I remember correctly, the original team was chosen during a try-out period. I think I tried out and din't make it.
Or maybe the try-outs were for something else...
I was hired covertly by Yoshi due to inactivity. Chu was the only one who volunteered.
Didn't seem very covert if we all know you do it.
·Approve/Deny UMS maps submitted. (43)
·Approve/Deny Melee Maps submitted. (8)
·Approve/Deny Modifications submitted. (7)
·Approve/Deny Programs and Sound wavs submitted. (20)
Maybe we should hire an additional person or 2. It is a tedious and usually boring task though, and many people have failed to excell in it or got tired of it fast.
I tend to do ~60 at a time once a week.

One more person should do. Although I know that I haven't worked on it during the past few weeks, it can clearly be shown that we are getting about 40+ files per week. About 2~3 months ago this wasn't a problem because we would be getting around 15.
I got a nice idea, generally (but maybe not exclusivly) for the sounds catagory. Assuming you guys all know how to work an ftp client, I could make a DLDB account. In a few clicks or so, you could download all the sound files into one local directory. Listen to them and as you are listening, delete the files from the ftp directory itself. Upon finishing up, you go back into the dldb admin section and go into this special section and push one button... it will find the files you deleted and kept and takes appropirate actions.
Actually, you wouldn't even have to download the maps to a local directory, you could just select execute and have your ftp client download the file to a temp directory, execute it for you. I think it'll almost be like downloading a few mp3's from a p2p network and listening to them to make sure they are good, which probably is a whole hell of a lot easier than the current system.
Maps, however, still need their data/screenshots checked and generally is best to approve them 1 by 1...
Anyways, got any suggestions for a new person?
Any one of the
Elites seem to be trustworthy and honest members.
Aww don't descriminate against the Regulars because we don't post as much.
Well, I noticed that Sonoco has been having some problem's with the site.
He apparently likes to copy other's peoples work from Blizzforums, And now this. Submitting mass of maps to the DLDB, Without a good description of the map.
Each map deserves a great description, Even if it is a money map

Yes, please do that. It takes me around 20 minutes to download all the maps for review. It would be so nice to do that nice and fast.
The way I approve is:
-download all ums maps
-play them on sc 1 by 1
-write down chuckouts
-make ss's (this goes really fast btw)
-mass approve
-deny 1-by-1 with denial notices
-repeat for other sections
If you do end up getting more dldb keepers, you should get rid of some of the inactive ones, the member group shouldn't get too cluttered.
If I had to reccomend somebody, it would be LegacyWeapon, but he already does the tutorials and might nor have the time.DLDB FTP access would be nice, I've always suggested a way to mass download from the DLDB.
If someone is to be chosen, other than LW for being Tutorials, I'd have to choose EzDay or Kaboom.
I don't care who does it, As long as they do a good job at doing it. Just pick one of the most honest and trustworthy elite.

FTP is a no no. It poses MANY security risks, which is why it is out of the question.
Rats.. But I understand what you mean.
That's what I was thinking of, But coulden't you make a secondary FTP account for all of the member's, And have the rest of the folders in the FTP restricted to that account.
