hi, i just wanted help with with a bullet trigger

im making an rpg and i dont know how to do a bullet trigger

i have a system that with a pistol(marine) when it shoots something, 1 mineral goes down, and they start with 12 minerals
when they run out, 1 gas goes down and 12 minerals go up, like in real life, reloading a clip

i want to know if this is possible, the part of minerals going down when a unit shoots. a player will only hold 1 unit the whole game so, plz help me

Well the only foolproof way to really do this is to make every unit die with only one shot of the marine, like in the map SWAT by Mathrix(U), then based on the kill score of the player, you subtract ammo. Everytime something is added to the player's killscore that means he killed a unit.

Devilesk beat me to this, but if you solely want to base your ammo the shots fired, that won't work. There are no mechanisms to detect ammo fired with Starcraft.

You can do that or another way. Make a location follow the unit you want and whenever a hostile unit goes in that location area(should be as big as the units range) have it remove minerals, but for reloading, you'll have to stop ur unit form attacking by having its owner ally the hostile. (May not be fool proof, kinda just popped in my head) Simple, should be easy to do and if theres a problem with it dont blame me, I'm not really thinking right now.

I've tried something like that, it had a dropship shot system. You are always allied to the enemy. Then when you want to shoot you would unload the shoot unit from the dropship, and it would unally the enemy, wait a little bit and then really. Now I also had a location following the the main unit so that if you tried to shoot when an enemy wasn't in that location it would give you a message like "Enemy is not in range". Problem with this though is that it doesn't really let you select which enemy to shoot at if theres many enemies around you, and it might sometimes fail.

That was an old map I tried using a system like that, I'm pretty sure that's it.

That map also had an inventory system, with weapon equipping smile.gif

(off topic)I hate weapon equiping, Air units are the only good thing to use and theres not a good variety of them. And surprisingly I cant find any "walk" sound effect here for my map sad.gif ...

Well the equipping is really just changing units, and to do so you unload different units in the dropship, it's like a drone and an scv, the drone cycles through your inventory one way and the scv cycles through the inventory the other way.

One problem I didn't bother doing anything about, since I kind of abandoned the map, was all the HP issues with changing units.

Look in the tutorials section. You'll be surprised how much you find in there.

Yeah that ammo system is great and works fine. I have that implemented into my Halo2 map and it's great. biggrin.gif
