this might b a bit loooooooooooong... cry.gif ranting.gif

lol ne ways if your wiewing this, you probobly are wondering:'' how the ****
do i get a stupid Wav file on my map?!!? (P.S. this is only an explaination for gettin music onto the map)

Ill break it into steps because there are usm ppl that just dont understand the simple stuff.. so ill make it even MORE simple.. wink.gif

Step 1: Download an mp3 music file.

Step 2: Open up sound recorder(if u have mac, i dun no anythin bout macs, so this is the wrong msg for u.. sry)
you have the sound recorder if you have windows, its default.
to get to the sound recorder: go to Start at the bottom left, all programs, accessories, enterainment and *TING!* its there.

Step 3:Whenyou have your sound recorder open, go to file, open and open your Mp3 music file that you downloaded a little earlier.

Step 4: When your Mp3 song is opened, go to File,(again) and into properties.

Step 5: Once your into properties, ull c at the bottom: convert now, and to the left of it: all formats. click on convert now.

Step 6: Once your in convert now, you'll see Name. and the qualitys, select radio quality, anymore and it will be 2 much for star crafts crappy sound system.
and then you'll see attributes.
PCM will be selected, keep it at that.
and then below that, go to 16 bit Mono. 22.050 43kbs/p. then go to Ok.

Step 7:Then after the conversion, go to save as, save it in the campaign folder, in the C drive. (easy spot to remember)

Step 8: after you saved, while the music file is still open, click on the beggining of your part that you want to be in your map. Click stop Right Away!
go to Edit: delete before current possition.
this will delete all of the music before the beggining of your part of the song thats gonna b on the map.

Step 9: Click at the part that you want to end the part of the song. Again, stop it right away. go to edit and go Delete after current position.
then you will c only the part that you wanted on your map.
(PS. dont make it over 50 secs, or the DL will take forever.)

Step9-The Final Step- Finally!.. tongue.gif any ways, go to file, save. if it asks where,(i forgot if it did or not) go to campaign and over write it on your long Wav. file.(if you dont see, select WAV. file at bottom)

Go to X-tra map editor. open your map. then go to Sounds, under scenario. in there, go to import. import your music file from the campaign folder.
then go to Ok. Save your map.
for it running all the time, go to

Players: player 1,2,3,4.

Condition: Always.

Action: Play wav file: and it will be listed!! click on it, click ok, ok again, ok AGAIN, save and WOOOOOT YO OFFICIALLY HAVE MUSIC ON UR MAP!! and it only took me half a ****ing hour to write this... LOL tongue.gif

Is there a question as to what you need mapping assistance for?

I'm pretty sure we have compression tutorials, and getting a wav file in a map is probably in the Staredit help file. Actually getting a wav file in a map is more manditory than anything, you don't need to learn how, you just "do it".

Also, there's no way a tutorial that isn't in english such as this will be "accepted" by the community.

I read english. As far as I know, "u", "y", and anything similar are not words.

The main language is English. Not leet, not newbish, English. Understand?

Unless im mistakin Sound Recorder cannot open MP3 files, so you must mean wav files. If you want an MP3 in ur map however, its called the DLDB, its got a couple MP3 converters, use them. Sound Recorders only good for bringing the WAV bit down so u can use it on ur map and bring the size down at the same time, however you may (most likely) loose some quality.

It's so much simpler just to get a Wav to Mp3 converter. It's free, just search on google. Who really wants to go through ALL THAT to find that just to get a wav file.

New tutorials need to be submitted to the tutorial database. Even if this was a good tutorial no one would see it a month from now as a thread.
