Chinese scientists are collecting special chemical compounds from the body of the roach which they hope can be used as a treatment for AIDS.

According to Li Shunan, dean of Pharmacology Department of Yunnan Medical College, the body of a roach has a suite of poisonous chemical elements, such as aflatoxin, and a special allergic material. Li and his group have extracted three chemical compounds from the body of a roach that are useful in combating diseases.

Li has verified in lab trials that a chemical compound consisting of an amino acid and polysaccharide is effective in killing the AIDS virus.

Lab experiments have shown that the compound has similar effectiveness as AZT, a widely used AIDS drug developed by American researchers, but has fewer side affects than AZT. However, clinical trials are expected to obtain a final result.

Li said that the roach idea sprang from practices of an ethnic minority in Yunnan province who have used roaches to cure fester since ancient times.

Li has spent 20 years on the unprecedented research. He has also discovered that a certain chemical element extracted from the roach can cure heart disease.

I'm serious here, so instead of wearing a condom.. about a week after having unprotected sex (or how ever it takes aids to become active, I don't know) someone could pick up a roach, eat it and not get aids?

It depends, how much of the chemical do you need? Is it more than what's in one roach? Is it the amount found in, say 400 roaches?

Do you really want to eat 400 roaches? Heck, for that matter, do you really want to eat ONE roach?

Hell, If I had AIDS, And could cure it by eating roaches, I would blend them all in one big drink, And just drink it as fast as I could.

But it is still amazing that roaches can do so many thing's, And are so very small.

Yes, you can get aids by unprotected sex but also by used needles, blood transfers (donations, etc), offsprings can get it from their parents, there is one more but I forgot.

So technically, roaches can't take being hit by a nuke, as the heat would vapourize them. However, according to this article, they can take the radiation from the nuke, so I guess they can survive if they're sheltered from the heat and the shockwave.

Just goes to show you people can't go a day without having sex.

I never knew there was so much to roaches, but its not that strange is it? considering how god-like they are... with a weakness to boots.
This could ruin the natural world. Scientists will kill of roaches, things that eat roaches will die out, etc etc etc.

I googled "How aids started" and this was the third result, I think I've also heard about this in Biology last year.

I never was taught by anyone about the CIA comming up with it. If you think about it, it seems reasonable. I will explain:

The whole rule of keeping Church and State out of eachother doesn't work. Look at our president know. He is whatever religion he is, and he puts his religious beliefs into his work (which is supposed to be against the law)

Now what i'm trying to get at is this. Who was the leader of the CIA before he became president (Bush Senior) Now, don't you think it is a possibility, that he had the CIA create the AIDS virus to get rid of the homosexuals because it is against his religion? Hell, if you became the leader of something powerfull that can do anything you want, wouldn't you use the power to get back at some certain people....?

It's my opinion, not my beliefs. I could care less where it came from, as long as I don't get it.
