As of now, I think the swear filters are just way too excessive. The old swear filters were sorta lenient ("b" word not censored), but this is extreme. I mean seriously, ed (word for stupid- the "r" word) is censored? What about ("h" word)? ("C" word for excrement) and others. Starcraft was nearly rated M, and has a lot of uncensored " "s ("s" word for excrement) and one " "
("b" word.) Some of these censored words are not considered curses by many. If I want to say my cousin is mentally ed and also a homosexual, I don't want all those angry censor smileys. Its not a cursing sentence either. I dont think any part of that sentence should be censored. Its somewhat ridiculous, the extent of this filter.
If people used the report function we would not see so many incidences of tasteless amounts of cursing.
And if you seriously need to keep this filter, can you give me a list of the words that are censored?

All people do is complain. I haven't seen one good reason why people need to see your foul language.

I don't think we need any more complaints of this. Yoshi is getting sick of people complaining about it, we seriously don't need to be saying the things we do, we are a map making community.

I think it is a good idea that Yoshi installed word filter's, They keep the forum clean.

But if you read a post, That just has the smiles and in it, Then it look's really ugly.

Can we make all the words censored when used alone? The :wtf@ge: smiley and the word c0ckroach get messed up

This doesn't count as spelling out b-a-d-w-o-r-d-s hopefully. Because they're regular words... :-/

Well Yoshi just put the censors to keep it clean. Maybe it is a little messed up cause some stuff are way to censored, thats why they should have a swear filter turn off and turn on switch

There. Now the filter doesn't use emoticons, and is less threatening. I've also attempted to free up a few words for you, such as cockroach, and the smilie works.

You know thats breaking a rule, by replacing one letter its avoiding the filter, and people know what you're saying there anyway.

Beefing up the filter in my eyes, is childish. Sure it gets rid of the excessive swearing, but it also downgrades most peoples vocabularies. Example:



I agree with him on that. I will be typing normally (without swearing. I only cuss when i'm extremely excremented off [My point. Excremented for the word urine? And when Urine isn't even offencive?]) and half of my words will be converted (Not even the offencive one)

I'm just a litle outraged because I don't believe taking one's freedom of speech away, is a good way to make a site "Professional"

Anyhow, this site is supposed to be a Starcraft site, and Starcraft is rated teen. I can understand what you are trying to do, but it's being taken a bit too far...

Plus, if the filter stays, I'd much rather have the than wonderful friend and the like ... It makes me feel so stupid when they get inserted in there...

Look, therer are some people who take these discussions seriously, if you see someone going "OMG H*M*S ARE STUPID AND STUFFVS LIK OMG!111" then ban him!

I agree. Instead of ruining the experience for everyone, ban the idiots and morons and flammers and spammers.

I noticed in some of my posts that the words that got censored, Turned too the name of the smiley, Like :blam: turned into poo.gif, And some other smiley's turned into the name of the file.

Why do we need to speak horrible anyway? Let's just try to keep calm when you want to swear.

Finally, you guys are starting to see reason and why I did this. Just think of a replacement phrase that sounds less threatening but gets your point accross.

"You make me angry"
"I don't want you doing that"
"I wish that you would change your additude"

See? Its not hard.

Personally, I would listen to someone who said the stuff I listed above. Theres no need for people to be so aggressive here. Its a map making forum. Period.

But what if you are ranting and you say that someone was female doging (b-wording) about something? Or something is effed up. strange (q-word for non hetero's) is an intelligent word, and is now PC. I dont flame, but I do say 'Oh, that glitch was strange' (q-word) as in it was odd, but I like appearing more intelligent by saying it....

Perhaps you should have a filter making these phrases turn into others, avoiders will be warned, etc:

'*Ef* you' - 'I strongly dispise you' (With the various spellings, no 'c', 'kc' etc)
Uhh, cant think of anymore, but if you run across another one, that is commonly used, you could add it.
