Greetings.
I like playing StarCraft. Due to my 3-second-lag sattelite internet, however, I can't play on Battle.net, which means the only human opponent I have is my neighbor, when we play LAN.
With only one human opponent, we needed to have a little variation every now and then, so i started making maps on the mapmaking program that comes with the game.
This site was mentioned on the GameFAQs boards, so I wandered on over. They suggest downloading third-party map editors, is that necessary? Which one would suggest?
I'm mostly just looking to create new maps to play with my friend. With interesting features and twists. I've created a couple Melee maps, it's harder than it looks. I kept leaving huge blank areas at first.
After some more tweaking, I'd like to share my favorite map, put it up for critique. Can I do that here?
Eventually, I'd like to make some Use Map Setting maps to add some twists; secondary goals that award extra upgrades, or such. It might also be fun to creat mini-campaigns that we can play as allies.
That's me, I guess. I'm looking foreward to making some shiny maps.
Greetings newborn user! I, unlike everyone else, do NOT come in peace but I will warn you, there is rumour going on that newbs like you will receive a Trojan Virus in the next 48 hours, so shut down your computer while you can...

Did you fall for it?

Did you fall for it?
Nope.
I'm dissapointed at the lack of Kiwi offerings, though. I like Kiwi, just not in pies.
Looks around for ShadowBrood.....
Welcome to Staredit.net!
May I kindly offer you a kiwi?
Introduce yourself!
Please try to ignore the crazy members that try to offer you kiwis and say silly things, they aren't human.
^Ignore that^
Well, since you want it, here you go. I didn't even use photoshop. I'm surprised at how well it came out.
Thank you, Wilhelm.
Tastes good, especially with salt. That little green fruit ain't half bad, either.
"'ello there mate. Would yeh like some fish n' chips? NEways, enjoy yer stay at Hotel Staredit. And if anyone's givin' you a hard time, just heave'em down to my siggy and give'm a good talkin' to, unless they look like a giant dinosaur with a gun, or a keg, or a bolthead, or a moose with one of those caution signs, or a guy who’s high, a guy who puts limes and kiwis in one basket, looks like an ankh, self proclaimed lords of evil."
The other editors are pimpadelic, but it's StarEditor all the way for me.
Sad that you cant play on B.Net!
Its so fun.
Yes, you can put one of your maps on here if u want,
I do suggest you use sum third party editors, especially SCXE
and Starforge. GL
I spent some more time on my map, and then I did put it up on the melee board.
It seems to be the quietest one on the site, though.
I'll look into those editors. What do they do that StarEdit doesn't?
Umm...
Lemme add ScmDraft2 to the list
1. Square Terrain (Starforge and Scmdraft2)
2. Stacking (All)
3. Over 9999 HP (Starforge)
4. Text Overlapping (SCXE)
5. Specialized Terrain (Starforge and Scmdraft2)
6. Fun to screw around with em.
Well, I don't understand much of that besides point six, but I've got the hard drive space. I'll try 'em out.
And yeah, it does suck that I can't play on Battle.net. But when we do get better internet, I'll start with plenty of practice.
On a side note, how is to play on B.net with a 56k dial-up? Because I could do that sometimes, we have a dial-up service which we never use, comes free with the sattelite service.
Hello and Welcome to SeN
Glad to see a new melee map maker, yea, not many being made because trcc stopped making them.

Woah, he stopped!? I checked out a couple, they were the best there.
Well, I'll just have to take up his mantle. Except nobody's criticized my map yet, so I don't know anything about my Mapmaking skills.
