[Neo Seventh] Watch the pendulum swing...

[center]Whence the coming of the sphere of being, all that was was shifted into six planes, always six planes. To the forces of darkness, three were gifted, the planes of corruption, chaos, and death. To the forces of light, the remaining three were given, of purity, of holiness, and of constancy. Thusly, the balance of the ever-warring primal forces was maintained, and all believed that this would be the state ere the breaking of being and the casting of mortal life into the Abyss.

But now, something even the oracle cannot explain has happened. Violating the eternal law of balance, a sudden plane has appeared  in the sphere, a happening that violates all natural ideas and laws of the universe. This seventh plane appears to contain numberless amounts of energy, unformed, unshaped. This seventh plane, christened the Neo Seventh, has brought further discord- The boundaries that once separted planes have been torn down, merging all into one raging battle of the two primal forces of good and evil.

And a question remains. Who will gain control of the plane? Who will win the overbalance of the universe? Because, in the end, only one can survive.

Thats better tongue.gif. Well nice outline man. INteresting of how you put things. Quite the interesting tale i must say. Good luck on finishing this.. it seems intesting enough and i also like the title.

Also when you say Single Player does that mean that its 1 player or played in single player.. lol.

I make good music.
If this was played on bnet, the lag would kill everyone.
When I say single player I mean the only human player is you. And only you. Which means just you.
This map should be played on an empty Direct Cable or modem Multiplayer game.
BTW: If i wanted to really let myself go music/sound wise, this map would be around 80 MB.
Also, i think I will try my hand at some sexy terrain.

This has one of those storylines that just seems to make people want to play. However... Are you just some person that decides to become Evil or good and take over the place? Or is there some background to your person.

Im sorta undecide on that point. The unknown joe idea gives a better range of imagination for the player, but the guy with a past offers more storyline ideas. I think I'll give the character a name, but thats it.
Note that this is still very early in the stages of development.

Snipe that answer is obvious... No games should be played in Single Player because it puts the timing off alot... Its 1 Player

Mansion is on my "Do it later" rack. I may dip into it once or twice. Having multiple maps in production really motivates me more. Don't worry, a trailer for Manison is in the works as well.
I've already got a bit done, although I need a bit more time before I can post a decent screenie of the opening town.

ermm.gif Ok, so there's a bunch of trees doodads in the middle of bridges and on sides of cliffs (oh right, and those bunkers)... are there more on actual gameplay?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Dr.Shotgun on 2005-07-26 at 21:02:13
Well if you want an outline on the actual area, I''ll give you one [spoilers=minor]The town is a neutral town that has ben burned in the crossfire between good and evil, called Dorrwindale. You begin on the bridge, awakening. The town around you is burning (needs to be added), and on either side of you there are two important areas of Dorrwindale- Dorrwindale Castle and the Pit. Dorrwindale Castle's outline is not sure yet, all i know is it is a stronghold for the forces of good.
The pit it an odd crater-like geological formation. If you are wandering here, you will be caught by a guard and escorted to the secret entrance, which teleports you to the inner stairs. The inner stairs lead up and down- down into the bottom of the pit (behind the cliffs), or on top of the cliffs. The top of the cliffs is basically like the top of a wall- a defensive formation. The pit is where you go first, and where you are introduced to the local captain, which begins a quest. (at this point im think of a quest to go get reinforcements). There are several points of interest here, a mercenary captain, an armory, a chemists, and a merchant's store. This pit is also set as your TP destination.
Joining the Evil in the Pit gives you a small amount of evil points.
There are two choices- to go and fetch reinforcements or to wait on the wall. If you do not go ttom find reinforcements, the defenders of the pit will be overwhelmed and you will be forced to join good and switch sides.[/spoilers]
The pit willb be sieged by killing a strong unit or building represnting the health of the gates. Then the good forces will be free to enter the stair, and then the top and the pit.

Town portaling will be done using Arbiters and a simple move, as well as a nice center-location action that saves your position in the dungeon/wilderness.

Yeah, sounds nice and all, but there was an RPG I never finished, (The Blue), which had pretty much the exact same idea for the story, but less concise. Still, I'd like to see the idea get finished, since I could never really get to working on it. Still, can I at least have credit for the story you blatantly plagiarized?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Dr.Shotgun on 2005-08-04 at 06:33:59
I don't remebr the story for that RPG, it's probably a coincidenece. But link the thread and I'll see how close it is...

The story has these parallels:
1.Disruption of balance
2.Six planes/dimenison thingies.
I don't think "disruption of balance" counts as your idea, the six planes i did because of the title there had to be an even number originally for balance between light and darkness, and Neo Fifth didn't sound right, Neo Third didnt either, Neo Ninth didn't, so it became Neo Seventh.
The storyline is actually pretty different, yours does not contain refernces to a main theme in mine: two opposite forces. Also, your storyline takes place in a peacetime setting, and with more advanced tech., mine is in a fantasy/medieval world, and in a basically wartime/chaos setting.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Wilhelm on 2005-08-04 at 07:00:00
So I'm not even going to get any credit? I mean, you even posted in that freakin' thread.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Dr.Shotgun on 2005-08-04 at 07:03:20
So?
Your story has very little relevance to mine, but yeah I'll put this down:
Minor storlyine inspiration- Wilhelm.
