Staredit Network

Staredit Network -> Terrain -> The Pit
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Kingra on 2005-07-31 at 15:55:27
Meh. I found a cool way to do a sort of a pit where you can fall into.

It's just null terrain covered with sprites, but I think it's pretty cool, and hopefully never done before. It takes quite a few sprites to cover it, I'm trying to find another way to cover the blockiness...

Enjoy, and rate if you wish.

thats pretty cool, what about using cloaked lifted barracks shadows to blend the pit to the ground?

Then you have the shadow of a barracks over a pit. They dont exactly make circles well. tongue.gif I've yet to see a science facility doing the same however.

That is truly a fantastic idea, seriously. Might I ask for permission to add it to my RPG?

this looks cool, but i think it's not very innovative wink.gif

Eh, cloaked lifted building shadows might give it a darker feel, I guess (though it's already VERY dark...)
Yeah, you can use it in your maps or whatever, I don't really care if you give me credit or not.

Finally, something new, other then "teh omgz cliffz zCooL!"

Good job on that, looks pretty neat. Also, very useful in RPGs.

Whats the tile address for walkable null?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by RexyRex on 2005-08-03 at 04:01:01
That's very interesting...did you actually place null tiles? Though?
Because if you made a shadow that dark with just sprites, you might want to consider deleting a few. wink.gif

Because a cloaked unit over null tiles has no variation to distort. Thus it would be compleatly invisable. (except where it overlapped the sprites i guess.)

Its like the observer i have flying around in Time Up Bound... Can you find it? Nope you can't see a blur at all.
