It would be cool to add storms and stuff like that in UMS maps. So I made this little roaming around storm. It contains of observer that dies 12 times per second. Looks like a cloud that randomly fly around and kill everything in its way. You can use and mix any air units to make deferent effects. There are some screens.

2 observers

4 science vessels

[attachmentid=12433] [attachmentid=12434] [attachmentid=12435]

And there is the map with this trigger.

I used 2 observers in map. Fell free to use this in your map if you like it. If you find any cool unit combination please post it. And add some screens.

Maybe if you can cloak a Scout, you can have a gridded unit below the cloud (Ie, Dark templar) that the scout attacks, making rain. smile.gif

Sure sounds cool. I will try it out.

ADDITION:
It crashed my SC when the scouts were cloaked! Besides disabled units can't move.

good rain would be kakarus, because they look kinda like rain when they die

how about, you use the triggers of god and make a hero wraith owned by a comp cloaked and make it's attack the storm. then have another ocmputer have an observer roaming around so the wraith attacks the observer constantly creating a thunder storm whereever it goes.. killing units with splash. the wraith comp needs to be allied to everything but the observer comp.

But why I would need the triggers of god. And if the wraith comp will be allied to everything but the observer then everyone will see it. Anyway I am on it.

ADDITION:
Ok I tried The wraith stuff. It doesn't add to much effect.

I also tried the kakaru effect. It does look like rain and it's pretty cool but when kakaru dies they create a ball that floats over the cloud look.

The 'Undefined Weapon Name' With a damage of '4' is a rapid Scout attack, so If anyone can find it's ID (I had it, but my list got comprimised, cant trust after any zerg attacks)

Ignore what Was here xD

TRiggers of God to change its attack to Psi Storm, and... no. Allying someone doesn't share vision with them, that's an entirely diffrent thing.

try this : make and kill an arbiter there to cloak the scout biggrin.gif

Giving units Psi Storm as weapon has crashed me.
Then again, I only tested it on one unit.

but doesnt the scout uncloak when the arbitere dies?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by SacredElf on 2005-08-22 at 18:45:01
or just use Observer research so it go faster
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Merrell on 2005-08-22 at 22:35:48
This effect is lame. Exploding archons does NOT represent a storm.

Wtf, It's just exploding units at one location. Boring and lame..

Try making a large block of hallucinations that rapidly create/die, and just keep creating a templar for a computer with storm enabled and 100% energy, and get another cloaked computer unit(enemy to the templar, but so the templar can see it) attack it, and it should cast Psi Storm on the unit or if there are other enemy units on the map, it will cast Psi Storm on them. You could make an electical storm that lockdowns any mechanical unit that comes in contact too. There would be no need to use the kill trigger on the players' units.

that would be cool with psionic storm
and what about using recall?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Reap_This_Whirlwind on 2005-08-23 at 18:06:21
Well I guess recall could be wind.
And for another cool effect maybe do multiple ice blasts.(Stasis) If its like a hail storm stasis could be ice or something.

Yoshi's Matrix map had the best looking SC clouds I've seen...

Add that + Deathknight's Idea = Perfect storms.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Sniper on 2005-08-23 at 20:22:37
Ya but with DK's idea the storm wouldn't follow the observer and would have delays.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Deathknight on 2005-08-23 at 20:41:29
Well, if you want perfect triggers for it, I COULD take the time and make an example map, but I'm pretty sure you can prevent "delays" and get the storm to follow whatever you want. The units casting spells would obviously be removed and recreated with the storm, or just moved, or something.

Uh... just get observers to keep moving down...?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by KrAzY on 2005-08-28 at 02:02:19
Rain please. smile.gif

You can use scanner sweep if you like.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Scotinator on 2005-09-01 at 21:59:58
They are a lot of rain posibilities You just have to choose one

JUST AN IDEA: why not kill a cloaked mutalisk or any flying zerg unit and kill it it would look like A BLOOD RAIN. happy.gif

It can be a good idea happy.gif

No, then all you would see is another explosion and people would think its a bound and run from the stupid explosion even though theres no unit there -_-.
