[Center]Clan aEp Map Making Tournament[/Center]

Clan aEp is hosting a map making tournament open to all map makers. Rules are listed below. The entry fee is a small 10 minerals.

Rules:
-Maps can be of any type except a mass

-Deadline is October 14th 2005

-All maps will be reviewed by the Chancellor and Vice Chancellors of Clan aEp

-Maps will be scored on for a total of 100 points. These 100 points are divided equally into 4 categories (25 each): Style, Terrain, Triggering, and Originality/Creativity. Each Category can have several sub-categories, depending on the map type (ex: Style-> Gameplay (for any map), Terrain->3D Terrain (for maps with 3D terrain), Triggering->Effects (for any map), Originality/Creativity->Storyline (for RPGs) etc..)

-Subcategories such as 3D Terrain and Storyline will only be used for maps with those things in them. So if you are going to put it in make it good. The 25 points are divided evenly in between the sub categories.

Prizes:
-1st Place 300 minerals + 3/4 of the pot (entry fee minerals)
-2nd Place 100 minerals + 3/16 of the pot
-3rd place 50 minerals + 1/16 of the pot

Maps must have been started Aug 1st or later.
Signup deadline and map deadline are the same. (Oct. 14th)

Glad to see someone hosting a regular map making tourney. This should attract alot of attention not only your clan, but the community. Hope you guys make this a success.

i guess that ill try but i dont know if ill make the deadline. you need to make it state they cannot be previously made maps.

Just give them to temp, and ensure he is aware that it is the entry free for the contest

so melee maps too?

Is whether or not the map is multiplayer a consideration for scoring?

I think that if it is multiplayer Temp, Volcove, and myself will play it together (or as many together as possible).

Most maps are multiplayer, so it'll be fairer to review them.

Temp, maybe we should ask for unprotected copies to be PMed to us? They could also send protected copies in addition with the unprotected ones, and we could post them or something.

I thought it was pretty clear that they would need to be unprotected, but yes the need to be unprotected and if you want to send a protected copy in as well you may. All types of maps are accepted except masses, this means you can submit a melee map but the category triggering will not be used and the extra 25 points will be divided evenly into the other categories. Since there are 3 judges we can do multiplayer and if there are more people required then we can find more to help out (they will not judge the map).

If you can make two maps within a month, go for it.
I wouldn't recommend it, making one incredible map would pwn two shottily made ones. I could have ended my Bounds map in about 4 days, but I dragged it out for another 3 weeks to get it perfect.
Then I got lazy and just stopped adding on to it.

Err, ya sorry I haven't posted here in so long. Anyway, you can do 2 maps if you want, really it isn't such a bad idea, so far only 4 people have signed up. But there is still a while, you can continue signing up untill the very last day and submit a map (as long as it was started after Aug 1st)

Oh Hell... I'll put in 2000 minerals to the grand prize winner. How does that sound?

*Edit* Due to these new prizes, the entry fee is now 100 minerals, not 10. If you don't think a $200 video card is worth 100 minerals, you are truly insane.

I've seen this in two different places, and there's a different mapmaking contest going on simultaneously. It's all getting a bit confusing . . .
