I wanted to give Mind Control as a weapon to a wrait and I realised that it made the game crash so I tryed every weapon to know if it worked and decided to post the result here.

*: These weapon only work with Melee Unit.

Melee unit can’t use any spell as weapon. When you give them weapon, they hit normaly and there’s no battle animation.

NB: Firebats aren't melee unit. (I think that archon too because it got an weapon animation)



Psyonic Storm: It doesn't do domages to the buildings.

Lockdown: You can lockdown anything.

Spawn Broolings: You can use it on anything.

crazy.gif Mind Control: It crash the game and dissapear the mousse pointer (on windows) when attaking. You must reboot after.

Its because zergling,broodling, and ultralisk attack with melee attacks. Melee units don't get animations. The same would happen with a zealot or a dark templar.

Yes, the Mind Control weapon cannot be given to another unit, but it looks like you already worked that out.

You know, I feel many mappers are reinventing the wheel with EUD, there are things that modders have known for ages and mappers keep spending their time rediscovering them. If there's something you want to know, try asking first. A lot of modders, me included, have all this knowledge that we can't wait to share and so you don't have to waste your time running into walls because we might have the answers already. Please use us!

There are explanations behind everything there that some of us would be dying to share with you. Like for example, sounds are sometimes played by the unit's attack animation and sometimes they're played by the animation of the weapon sprite being created. For example, if you changed the lockdown weapon to something else, it would still have the lockdown sound whenever you cast lockdown, because the sound is played by the unit. Whereas, if you changed the scout's air weapon to some other weapon which did not play a sound, the scout would attack air silently. After doing iscript modding for a while most people gain a feel for this and can make educated guesses about whether a sound is attached to a weapon sprite or a unit, and like I said before, be aware of other people's skills because it will save you time.

Halo Rockets do damage, but only against air targets. It is within the capabilities of EUD to change this. Psionic storm also can be made to hurt buildings with EUD. With the "claws" weapons, the first one is for the Zergling, second for the Devouring One and third one is for Infested Kerrigan. I'm not sure why you have Needle Spines starred there, because the Hydralisk successfully uses Needle Spines.

The problem with Claws, Kaiser Blades and Toxic Spores is they have a bogus sprite and so can only be used with units that use the melee attack command (attack1c for those of you playing at home) and so you can extend that list to Zergling, Broodling, Ultralisk, Zealot and Dark Templar from memory.

Halo Rockets are setup so they only damage air. You can change this with modding and therefore you can change it with EUD. Also, corrosive acid only leaves acid spores and splashes acid spores onto air units. I'm guessing you set halo rockets and corrosive acid as ground weapons when you tested them?

So please, ask questions if you're wondering about things, we have a great modding community here who are more than willing to part with their knowledge. I've seen DT_Battlekruser hanging around here too answer questions, and I'm sure there are more, so please make use of us.

Edit: Looks like Mp)Sniper knew what to say about the melee units. Technically, it's units that use the attack1c command - but in case you haven't noticed, I have a tendency to want to explain everything...

Well, I have nothing to say, because Rhino got here first.
Well, except...
The reason Flamethrowers don't create the flames is because of the fact that Blizzard decided for whatever reason to have Firebats "Attack with projectile from angle" instead of just "Attack with appropriate weapon", and so they're not one of the Weapon Sprite options.
