Report, edit, etc...Posted by Yoshi da Sniper on 2005-08-08 at 18:30:16
SI has given us a sneak peek at whats in store for the next version of Scmdraft!

One of the biggest features, is copy and paste. Allows you to take specific formations of units/buildings/etc and place them the exact same way. This is one feature that many people have been looking forward to, and can really make mapping go quicker on some map types.

An entire base

The listed major additions:
# Copy paste doodads, sprites, terrain, locations, or all of these simultaneously
# Multiple location selection / movement
# Selective paste display
# Brushes for units/doodads/sprites/terrain/locations

As well as many bug fixes.

As for the mac users, it is also being ported to Mac as you may as well know. Two screenshots were provided:

The Mac version of Staredit was able to move units by formation. I can't remember if it could copy though.

But this is awesome. biggrin.gif

Is there anything that can copy terrain right now?

It needs 3 things:

The ability to place irregularly shaped locations.

A terrain "quick access" palette, where you can select which tiles you want in it.

(I'll say "normal" just because I know I'll be shat on if I don't) Triggers/Mission briefings.

All they need is a better trigger editor and sf is outdated. Poor heimdal. sad.gif

Didn't Heimdal say he wasn't going to work on SF anymore?

dude, this is gonna own, i just hope it wont be buggy...

some ideas that would deffinetely help(me at least), a zoom feature in the palette window(its hard to see the tiles), and a zoom 150% my monitor shows the everything bigger ingame so i would love to see it bigger in the map so i can easier see if the terrain im makin is that blocky or not...

PLEASE!

Yes placing irregular shaped locations would be nice. It would best be used for big areas that arnt exactly square of course, like for rpgs and wutnot.

And doesnt it already have a terrain palette? Or do you mean like have a palette that you put what u actually want in it? If so then yes i vouge for that too biggrin.gif

Now please! Whens the release date? yahoo.gif

The terrain palette which has all the tiles seems small doesn't it?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by ShadowBrood on 2005-08-08 at 22:50:45
Just stretchthe window.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by MapUnprotector on 2005-08-08 at 23:27:52
Oh lol. I guess I didn't notice because you can't stretch it other than when viewing the tileset index
Report, edit, etc...Posted by ShadowBrood on 2005-08-08 at 23:39:02
Yeah, I complained about it too, but it was in the shoutbox, and then someone told me to stretch it.

It doesn't look much with the bunker formation and the base formation. I want something more out of those 2. It feels like a small update.
  • Triggers/Briefings easy as Xtra (including editing EUD)
  • Put a shortcut to a specific terrain palate
  • Adding more team colors (Like black)
  • Changing the Color Location
  • Tutorial Readme or Window (Just for newbies, not me)
  • Should have a randon 'what' command when a unit is placed, not a specific one. (Or if the unit is being placed too much, you can add the 'pissed' commands)
  • More stuff to make it look cooler

SI and DarkWizzard have repeatedly stated that they do not intend to make a GUI trigger editor, and I believe it is fine this way. Überation came out yesterday with a very nice trigger engine, and of course, there is always SCXE itself if you miss the clicking. happy.gif

As for colors, only the first 12 are defined clearly, then some (four?) more depend on the tileset, and from then on, you are indexing them from the main palette with the potential for unintended effects.

Changing the Color Location... not sure what you mean by that.

The other things are just for aesthetics, and I would rather see SI working on useful features than c00lz0rn3ss.

Actually, I like text trigger editor, but it should be more stable than sf's. If they can put the sf type but make it more stable, then scmdraft basically needs nothing else. tongue.gif

[center]Is it possible for it to get any better? This is just insane... SI keeps improving on an already beautyful editor.
How would we go about signing up for the Mac beta tests?
