There is a new patch, I dled it and it said that:
- Fixed a Bug that caused certain maps to crash.
Anyway, I tried EUDs and none of the maps worked, I think EUDs are gone...
OFFICIAL STATEMENT:
A small patch was released just to fix a bug related to some crashes on battle.net. If you encounter any trouble or notice any issues arising from the new patch, please post them in the OTS forum.
I did post a topic in the OTS forum on b.net. Doubt it will do any good though.
well, now we can just get on with our lives. i think we can still make maps without EUD triggers
Hm, my news post is gone so I'll post here, yoshi's probably making one talking about how EUD's are gone right now. Anyways, Blizzard did the right thing like it or not. They would have lost gamers due to EUD, plus, possible liability problems could have risen, Blizzard took time to look into this, I'm sure they made the right choice.
I agree, if they turned down a chance to rejuvinate SC, they must have a good reason. The bad must have outweighed the good.
But, one thing I don't get is why do they make the 1.13b patch have a description so... INSIGNIFICANT?
"Fixed a small bug that caused some maps to crash." What kind of farewell speech is that? We FINALLY find a loophole which is legal to make never-before-seen maps, and it's gone.
And all they CAN SAY IS THAT IT'S JUST SOME "SMALL BUG"?!?!?!? I rest my case.
Right now I'm on B.net right running unpatched 1.13 and I'm NEVER LOGGING OFF!!!!

Well, at least we know that Psi is still alive! Yay!
Now all we need is qPirateKing..

I do not have the details of what exactly was patched. I do know that it addressed an issue with crashes and connectivity. If the triggers were directly or indirectly affected by this change, it was done for the safety of the community as a whole and not to limit any aspect of the game.
As i said in the news forum, i don't really care much about EUDs any more, like the
"Ultimate Glitch" To me it got old fast, really fast.
It seems that they arent all gone, my cheat detector triggers still work...
- Why would they do this to us?
- They're Evil
- We were jst having fun
- NOOO!
It was fun breaking the limits though, am i wrong?
Fun Limit Dropped

Well duh, most/all cheat detectors do not require EUDS...
Mine are, try detecting staying alive without EUDs...
What was the mechanics of the EUD ? How could it worked ? Isn't there anyway to do it with this patch too ?

A recently discovered bug has recently been patched. Unfortunately the bug, that promised much for the UMS community, is no more. There was much speculation if this bug could or not be used in harmful ways at SEN, until superpenguin found one. We promptly reported it to Blizzard and one week later the bug was fixed with today's patch. We kept it quiet for obvious reasons until now.
The UMS community did lose a useful tool, as this bug permitted them some nifty legitimate UMS functionality. DeathKnight, who found the bug that was patched, had this to say on the matter:
"I didn't expect for Blizzard to patch it so quickly, specially something that was so harmless in my mind initially; but then some of us realized that after midnight, the bug could turn into a nasty gremlin. Anyway that is only one of the various methods to allow Starcraft Triggers to contain almost the same functionality as Warcraft III triggers."
As usual the Battle.net team acts quickly when it is a security issue. We really should thank them for up keeping this old game of ours and still listen to us. It should also be an encouragement for more people to report specific hacks and abuse at hack@blizzard.com. They do listen and they do take action. Their time frame may not be to our liking but this last patch 1.13b is sound proof that they do not sleep when our game or battle.net is at risk.

If there was a bomb in the building, and announcing there was a bomb in the building would cause wide-spread panic, would you announce that, or easily defuse the bomb without telling anyone yet?
I would diffuse the bomb, and then tell people. And nobody would believe a thing I said.

That doesn't work. I've been online when they released a patch. They reset your battle.net connection so you have to login again.
How do you get rid of the patch so you can use EUDs in single player still?
Blizzard could have hurt SC.
Sc needed something new to it and the EUD triggers were it.
But if Blizzard thought that it would help SC more then the EUD triggers would then they must have made a right choice.
Unless they don't want to help Starcraft. So people get interested in new and better games, and pay-for-play games AHEMWoWAHEM. If you ask me, Blizzard can go suck themselves. These triggers were a revival of the Starcraft experience. Heck, they had me making maps again. I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say it was exciting to work with this new discovery. The new maps that would have come from these triggers would have been something to see. I haven't gotten the new patch yet, and don't plan to. I think I'll play around with these triggers as long as I can.
To Blizzard: Sincerely, Go F Yourselves, Tools.
Would you shut up? Blizzard decided to patch it, deal with it. Saying "Blizzard has hurt SC", etc. is not true. They make Starcraft better.

Yeah, really. Even upgrade detections with EUDs work. It seems that most EUD conditions still stay alive which means it still allows to 'look' in the memory though impossible 'writing' in the memory. So... conclusively, Blizzard didn't intend to entirely kill the EUD, just the possibilities that might threat the whole sc community, like the virus thing.
