Staredit Network -> Concepts -> Display text: centering

It's not a huge discovery or anything, and im pretty sure most map makers have already figured it out, but im doing this fyi so.

When you use the action 'Display text message' how annoying is it trying to center it?

well it turns out, when you type in the text, and click ok, it goes back to a box which accurately displays where the location of the text will be on the screen.

Heres an example:

The text typed in on an editor:
[attachmentid=12851]

And the text in game:
[attachmentid=12852]

Can you see the similarities in location?

Thats all, i hope someone gets some benefit out of this.

How about use the back overlap (aka center text) symbol thing...

When I saw the topic name I was thinking "Centered text?? The center-alignment character has been known for a long time..."
>_>

that was..... -.- sad....
yeah don't try to center the text just place an overlap back at the beggining...

The center text character -- improperly known as the "back marker" -- would make short work of this.

Just a note: the front marker would put the text at the very right of the screen...or as far right as possible.

I suppose if you were doing an alignment that isn't pefect center then it would be usefull.

It would come in handy if you don't want to have text exactly in the middle. Such as an rpg, where there are little word bubbles for the characters in a conversation. That would be kinda funny to see.

If you don't want it in the very middle, then use a Center Tag and add some spaces onto the end of the text. If not for being able to push Centered/Righted text around with spaces, text overlapping would be impossible.
The Center tag is, as far as I can tell, superior. No question.

How about using the StarForge string editor? SCMToolkit? They both have the StarCraft font - you can figure out how they space out. smile.gif

The problem is, this idea is obsolete.
There's no need, no use for it.
