The old God topic sort of... died.
So anyway here are the rules:
No flaming.
No spam.
Back up your answers with logic or evidence.
Do not use religious documents as evidence, excpet for debating the religion itself.

My stance on God:
God cannot be disproven or proven. However, because something needs to be proven before it can be disproven, I believe God does not exist.

God cannot be proven, there is not mathematical equation or logic tht can prove Him/Her/It. The unknown is not proof of God because the unknown might be explained by simple logic later, I.E the unexplained is not inexplicable.

God cannot be disproven because by definition, god is omnipotent and omniscient, so God could just be leading us to the wrong conclusion, or everything around was constructed by god to instill doubt of God's existence.

I am pretty antireligious because I don't think religious does good, only harm. Anything that religion acheived can be acheived by other means, and religon has caused many deaths and lots of suffering.

Amen to that. Don't forget all the lies and misintrpretations that shaped what religious people believe in today. Also, all the holes and flaws in the things that were written in the bible, such as creation.

Evolution seems to be more of the logical way we were created. The fact that they found of fossils of Humans that were like Apes says a lot, it says that we most likely evolved from the Apes, we are in the Primate family, and Apes are strikingly the closest animal to our race, it is highly probable that we did evolve.

Also, about the "Bible" being the fact to god, in my opinion, someone could of wrote the book just to get people to follow him, how do you know someone write the book just to get people to follow him? I am highly sure that someone just wrote it, it isn't that hard to do. So that isn't a fact that he exists, give a more reasonable answer, if you please.

... "could have written".
I can't stand when people say "could of"...

Anyways, I'm agnostic and eagerly await the Christian-Fundamenties.

NOONE can tell wether a religion is real or not, because humans recorded the events, teachings and happenings of these, which means
that man coulda been a 9 year old trying to impress his friends.

I'm also an agnostic.

I have nothing against religion, but I do have something against extremism in any form, be it Christian, Islamic, Atheist or anything else.

On the subject of God, I think that humans have a natural tendency to use the supernatural to explain away the unexplainable or difficult to explain. Deities such as God and other supernatural entities were used to explain things such as the Sun, storms and so on, before science was able to dissect and adequately explain these things in terms of logic.

Slowly, the domain of the supernatural is being eaten away by science, but there are some questions that do not seem answerable in terms of logic.

The origin of the Universe is one such area. The Big Bang theory is flawed - because of one thing - how can something just exist? The human mind screams 'NO!' at the concept of something just 'being.' We are a race of builders after all. We create things, and we like to think that all things were created in a similar way. I mean, even if I do not believe that some bloke fashioned trees and animals with his own hands, I do believe that there had to have been some intelligence behind the rules which led to the evolution of such complex organisms.

And I'll stop there because I'm bored.

There's nothing to debate about. It's nearly impossible to change someone's beliefs and the arguements people use will be the same.

there is no way to prove, or dissprove that a god exsists. so theres no point of puting it here
Report, edit, etc...Posted by EzDay281 on 2005-08-13 at 20:49:43
Just as it's impossible to prove or disprove opinions, such as in LeftvsRightvsOther arguments.
But people still have them anyway, because humans like arguing.

Humans always need something to explain the things they can't, AKA God/ Allah/ Whatever.

Have you ever seen King of the Hill?
I hate the show, it's based around Red-Neck comedy, and when I watched it all their arguments ended with 'Well God loves him, so I win.' or 'It says so in the Bible.'

Maybe it's just a thing for stupid people, this God of which you speak.

I have a puzzle for those studying in evolution:

Tell me, is our earth getting "bigger" or "smaller"? In other words, is the earth slowly increasing in radii overall, or decreasing?

Such a preposterous question, I know. But it demands an answer.

I have a puzzle for those who are studying intelligent design:

What do you think of the Flying Spaghetti Monster?

Such a preposterous question, I know. But it demands an answer.

Well, yes, the Universe didn't have to be created by a 'god' who 'made man in his own image,' and arguing that some super-man called 'God' created the Universe displays the phenomenal size of the human ego.

It's staying about the same. Matter is being deposited on the surface at constructive plate boundaries, and taken back beneath the surface at destructive plate boundaries.

I guess Earth's gravity means that we attract dust from space and whatnot, but that isn't exactly enough to add to the Earth's radius, except over millions of years.

I think religion is just a way for them to teach you on how to be a better person. Every religious person I met is extremely well mannered and extremely nice. The bible just offers advice a such. You have to look past the flaws and look at the true meaning of what the people are tryingto tell you.

Yeah have you ever met a flaming bible-freak conservative? They are not pleasnt people, only if you fall in line with their beliefs will they abide you, otherwise you are going to burn in hell because you are a sinner.

Those people (aka fundamentalists) are very rare. Just because they exist doesn't mean we, as a whole, are all like that. Like 95% of the christians out there are nice and like what chris described
