Well i am trying to access the sounds from my Diablo 1 directory on my computer and i tried WinMPQ and it says "This file does not contain an MPQ archive" and i have opened all of the files in my Diablo 1 folder.

Any ideas on whats going on and is there any other way to get at those sounds?

You can find listfiles at this site, as well as the names of the mpq files you should be looking for:

thx Heimdal

ok i tried extracting the MPQ files from the D1 directory with Ladik's MPQ Editor and it says none are found. Is there a specific one that you would suggest or are they all equal, because that one didnt work? and what exactly is the definition of an MPQ file? Shouldnt i be looking for a .wav file? or are they the same thing?
