I got 3 cookies from SEN that are undeleteable, one is cookie for an avatar, one is from a topic and the other is from the "Search" thing.
Can you please tell me what is up with this? disgust.gif

ADDITION:

Holy crap, I just noticed that the cookies arent taking (total) 11 kB of space... they're taking (total) 11 MB of space! That unusually large for a cookie... WTF is SEN planning to do? blink.gif

ADDITION:

Sorry I misread, it's 1.1 MB, I didnt notice the dot. But still, 3 cookies take 1.1 MB !! There is something wrong.

I highly doubt this is just a joke and I highly doubt that cookies take up 11MB. Actually, it depends on how many avatars and signatures you have downloaded. You probably never cleared your internet cache, and you have like 400 signatures in your cache, don't blame it on the site. Cookies are <1KB. My cookies for SEN are 143 bytes.

So, delete your temporary internet files, or cache.

Actually I found out because I was clearing out the Internet Temp file. It said: "Error: Cannot delete 3 of the selected cookies" And to my surprise, all three came from SEN. One was an avatar (of a panda surrounded by fire), one was from a search (which is weird 'cause I never used the "Search" button... yet.) and another from someones topic, I don't know which.

But at first when I saw the cookies, I thought it said: .6 kB, .3 kB and .2 kB, but as I re-read it, I missed that each one had MB not kB. There is something wrong with those cookies and I can't get rid of them!

Try closing your browser then deleting them or deleting your cookies from the browser.

Oh censored.gif .

I just scanned them, they're viruses.
And they just opened and corrupted my freakin' files.

So far I have 5 files/programs damaged including:

- Winamp
- QuickTime ( No clue why I have this. )
- Starcraft ( I tried reinstalling, still doesnt work. )
- Warcraft III
- Quake III

What did I do to deserve this SEN?
Why?...

Viruses cannot be sent over Cookies. They are data text files, incapable of executing code. Even if, I'm a really crappy hacker, so I'd be unable to do something like this anyway.

The data sent over cookies from staredit.net is nowhere NEAR 1.1 megabytes. It stores simple cache data and user & pass information if you clicked "remember me".

If you are infected by a virus, it is most likely you did not get it from here, as all programs are scanned with antivirus software. You may have executed an ActiveX control off some website, which is why we recommend you use firefox.

Dude, I just SCANNED the cookies, it said:

" Unknown virus detected: (some random numbers)
(random text characters)
(more random characters and some numbers)
Press Ok to Delete. "

Then i pressed delete and it said:
" Cannot Delete 3 of the selected cookies. "

I'm like, WTFAGE.
Its in the Internet temp files and its... still there. I cant get rid of it and now my virus scan just popped up...

Damn w/e the virus is it just erased my Microsoft word.

Im getting off. Sorry I know this isn't your fault SEN... I'll see if I can survive without SC for awhile.

That's not good. Even if he didn't get it here, it's not good news. And you can survive without Starcraft, but you can't survive without Microsoft Word. Depending on the Security system you use, it may help. What do you use for security? And were there any suspicious sites or programs you may have downloaded on purpose or accidentally? All of these affect virus capability and catching.

EDIT: Not to make anyone freak out, but did you also download and use EUDEnabler? If so we could have a serious problem on our hands.

The cookies cannot be deleted, because some program is holding them as "open" or "writing". Cookies can't write to cookies, so another program is saving these cookies for some reason and storing virus information prehaps.

Means he has to find out what's going on. Could be harder than he thinks, but closing all his programs while doing a virusscan should help. It may be able to stop any program that uses the infected file, and pin it down so you can identify it.

Reformat your computer...that always works. If you need the files just save the ones you really want onto a disc. Things like starcraft you can reinstall later.

You might want list some of the programs running.

ctrl alt delete --> task manager --> processes

Look in there, find all the ones you're not familiar with and list them.

If you want to look for hidden processes, try downloading Systree++, it's what I use. (Search Google)

eud enabler would be the stupidest thing for heimdal to use for viruses when like 90% (guess) of the people on this site have used or downloaded SF so im gonna guess it has nothing to do with that

LOL. This is starting to sound like a joke. It is deleted things each and every post.

If you are serious now, do an online scan at:

edit: MUST BE DONE WITH I.E, sorry, I hate using IE too.. but gotta do it.

But damn, I really think this is a joke..

Ok to clear things up.

I'm on my dad's comp now, and I brought my comp to a computer store.
From the Information they gave me, the virus was NOT sent through SEN cookies, it entered my comp and attached itself to the cookies. Sorry to blame you SEN...
It doesn't make sense but thats what them computer people told me.

It'll take a few days before i get it back, and I'll have to reinstall SC and all the other stuff.

Yes you do. All window OS (except maybe the old school 3.x) have it. :/

I'll explain everything as that nerdy computer guy told me...

"The virus is not runnable alone, it needs to attach itself to an .exe file to execute itself. After, it must create a "connection" to read-only files to make itself permanent. Because of the .exe using the cookies, you cannot delete them. It is strange 'cause usually the virus would use other files than cookies."

Thats what he told me.
He did not tell me where the virus came from or what it is.

Well, good luck with your virus problems. Since this obviously doesn't involve this website, I'll lock it. If you need help from anyone, post in the Null forum and you'll get answers wink.gif
