I worked on this for awhile, so far as I see it, there is no way to do this without some blockyness.

Nice, I like it. smile.gif I didn't think the blockyness was too bad, I think it looks great.

8.5/10

Place maybe five sprites and it would be perfect.

Why do you always suggest sprites to cover up blockiness that's not always the solution? it looks good on the front but the back where you blend it to dirt just doesn't have the right piece try looking for a better 1

I tried for about fifteen minutes, I don't see any pieces that could possibly fix that blockiness.

omfg i maed a land bridge two!!111

I hate to break it to you, but StarCraft has done this already, it did it better too. Try combining actual bridge terrain with the temple terrain and hooking two pieces of high ground together with it.

Or just keep the entire thing temple -> grass.

Theoertical, can you get a good temple -> ruins and ruins -> temple thing going?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Wilhelm on 2005-08-14 at 15:26:53
Actually, Xeno, the point is to make the temple terrain on dirt. Once that's done, then you can always swift the top to temple, and bam, sexier then your mother. I've already done this sorta thing before, but I found a piece of bridget that makes the dirt blend possible. Don't patronize me with stupid bull:poo: like that, I'm not a brand new "uber teren maztur i foundz how to makez cliffs LOL"

I suggest sprites because I don't think that could be blended more.

Oh, I didn't realize the point was to make it on dirt. But I think it would be cool if someone tried what I mentioned anyway.

i liked it, a good choice of tiles. maybe you could use tiles that make it look like its off the ground? ie; having shadows underneath

It seems like the tiles for the sides of the dirt would connect better with bridge tiles, rather than temple tiles.

Blocky... But Good... 7.0/10

Teoretical alredy made an excelent land bridge a while ago. You should ask to see it from him. It was really well done.
For this piece I give you a 5/10 its average

As far as lacking a point, I would give it 10/10 since you can make almost exactly the same thing by using normal isometrical terrain, and unfortunately it still is pretty blocky. I don't really understand exactly what you were trying to make in comparison to temple terrain, but I can see you put some effort into it so I'll give you that.

i found the land bridge pretty nice, I've been trying to do something like this but over a ravine, mainly since the keebler elves tree didn't work out

back on topic... 8/10 more than 1 sprite wouldnt have made it look bad

Except that the "point" was to make temple on dirt. Once that's been done, you can easily just swap out the top for bridge terrain. Idiots.

Okie dokie... I give this piece of concept art 1 of 10 for many reasons. (Notice I named this peice concept art, and not extended terrain defining a well blended piece.) The block SF1031-2 is used quite well to reduce the height of the bridge, which I indeed like the use of, but forms a plain eye line going straight horizontal on the top (unfortunately). The other tiles used are to reduce height, reduce blockiness, and help blend into the dirt. The top tile, SF1354-1/SF1358-1 is horrid and produce unwanted attention to the soft tile with a more dark gray tone. This was probably placed in this piece because you wanted some diverse differences throughout your grass/dirt layout under the landbridge. Perhaps an on and off ramp blended your best would of gotten you another 1 point for a total of 2 of 10, which might seem harsh, but I feel the bad reasons overpower the good reasons to rate this well. I still admire that 1031-2 brush, and hav used it many numerous times before, i am proud to see it now in a different context. :D
