Staredit Network -> UMS Assistance -> Which editor should I use?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Infested-Jerk on 2005-08-14 at 14:31:58
Well, i usualy don't make maps, but I might as well get in the spirit.
I'm hoping to make an rpg where there will be 4-5 player characters, three of which will have alternate forms (To show use of bow, ect). I also want some spells, and probably some sound files.

Before I even start, which editor should I use?

ADDITION:
I read Mini Moose's pinned topic, but it wasn't descriptive enough.

Your choice. No one can tell you what editor to use, it's what your comfortable with. It's like telling someone which clock to look at.

*Brains freezes*

*Starts to drool*

It's not like your choosing which parent, sister/brother or child you prefer most.

Well if you've been used to the normal editor then try out Xtra Editor. I personally use SCMDraft for making terrain and use Starforge for triggers. Check out the DLDB, try several out and see which you like the best.

^That is the way to go^

I'm sick of brainless people who can't handle text-based triggers. They are much, much faster.

I've already downloaded X-tra editor.
I'm still going to need help though.
right now I'm only working on terrain, pre-placed enemies, and things like that.

ADDITION:
Although I think I made my map too small.

Okay, i'm getting pissed, stacraft keeps crashing when I try to play my baby of a map.

could this be related to the patch?

No crashing buildngs or units, (Independant CC's, ect) are in it.
I can't post the error text.
It crashes right after the mission briefing.

Use the triggers from SCXE if you dont know how to use the triggers from the different versions. I like SCMDraft2 all around the best. It is the best terrain maker editor. thumbup.gif
