Mindarchon has just released a new version of Trigger Viewer! It now features location viewing and it has far been improved over the previous version.

DOWNLOAD!

The trigger viewer is a program which overrides any protection and allows you to view triggers and now, locations. The catch is, it only allows you to VIEW these articles, and lacks any means of writing them. This brings the mapping community closer to open source without map stealing.

Before you open your mouth about any debates about how "its a stealing program" or "yoshi is betraying the community by allowing this":
Old Trigger Viewer Discussion
All About Protection

Two very fine reads about protection and how the trigger viewer is good. Enjoy.

Very interesting. This could be useful. After all the art of learning is through imitation and experience.

So, it gets past the new uBeR@TiOn?
I hear LW used lots of code from Trigger Viewer, it's no wonder they seem the same.

Nice job, MindArchon.

Hah. 5 hours past and no one said a word of negativity. I'm impressed with everyone.

Ever since the release of this thing, all my future maps (which have passwords and goodies) were being hurt, and now that you have created a new feature that lets you look at locations as well... my locations and secret places are in jeopardy as well as my password system in my RPG, which now must now be rethought out because locations are now visible. Im probably gonna have to come up with some complex location centering trigger to trick people into reading the triggers and locations wrong and waste more time to further protect against seeing eyes. Thanks. I appreciate it...

Don't get me wrong, I like the idea of people looking and seeing things and learning... but I really dislike how it shows EVERYTHING... maybe a new feature could be added to so certain important triggers may be "invisible" to the program.

Negativity!!

Super Negativity!!

THIS WILL HELP PEOPLE STEAL MAPS. YOU CAN UNPROTECT WITH THIS. IT'S EVIL. BAN IT!!

Ok, now that I totally ruined the no negativity happy.gif , I will say that this is a nifty little program and that we should have an FAQ post saying:
"SHUT THE HELL UP ABOUT GETTING UNPROTECTED MAPS.
View them with Trigger Viewer!!!"

Its missing one thing that the old version had and the newer version does not and that is the string viewer.....

MindArchon removed it. Don't know why.

Passwords are pointless. I think Mindarchon will be giving you the ability to hide max 5 triggers in the near future, but its nothing you can't see in a hex editor methinks.

Passwords aren't pointless if you are basing an entire game on it alone. Think about it, in most games passwords give you the strongest character available... obviously jerks and the like will just use the trigger editor to seek the strongest character, then go on a killing rampage against other players or just simply ruining the entire game because they have access to the strongest... "everything." It usually leads to players unwilling to play the game because of the ability to get everything without even playing it.

Passwords is a dumb argument. If your password system is good, nobody else but you would be able to understand it.

so, this version that doesnt do that is available... so nothign stops people from using it and they see the "hidden" triggers

Not everyone on bnet understands how to read triggers anyway, nor the existance of this program, and most don't have the patience to do such an action anyway.

I second that, also people who actually want to play the game fairly don't have to use the passwords to cheat, duh closedeyes.gif

I discussed it with him. Tell me why you need a string viewer?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Deathknight on 2005-08-17 at 13:00:49
All unused strings would be removed anyway, so you have access to every string already.

I'm also pretty sure Trigger Viewer can't view triggers of maps protected by the new uBeR@TiOn.

Well, that won't stop the people that don't want to play fairly.
Personally, I like the idea of being able to hide certain triggers and locations. Sure, it's possible to make triggers such that secrets and such are hard to understand, but why should we need to do that? That also means that if the author decides to change it for some reason or another, it's that much more work to do, which could be a major pain in the ass with password-systems.

I was just wandering lol, cuz i see the location thing in the place of the string viewer, just wanted to kno why he would replace one for another and not just leave both considering it is a newer version, doesnt that mean you leave what you have on the last one and make it better and add on to it, you usually dont take something out unless there was a problem with it, so thats why i wanted to kno.

But other then it, it works good :/

Which map you mean zeph?
wink.gif

It's probably protected by some way that trigger viewer can't read.
