I was wondering why this site does not allow rar. files? i like now to compress my maps using Winrar.

True, but .RAR is not as universal as .ZIP

winzip is better winrar is another of one million of others zips

But Winrar in my and alot other ppls oppion better then WinZip it is a way better Archiver and compresser

well but not every1 on this site use winrar, i think 80% of ppl here have winzip 19% both 1% just winrar

My reason for it is that not many ppl here even know about it/mostly talking about normal memebrs.

WinRAR is great, but .zip can be dealt with by even Windows XP. Not purchased programs.

I have winrar and winzip. I just use winrar because it's the first thing I see, probably because it's my default. I don't know, I don't have a preference to either.

I mostly just unzip things, probably with winrar too. I compress to .zip so I use winzip.

I also have ZipZag for some reason o.O

I love winrar. But zip files are more universal as said above. It prevents the forum from being filled with:

Has anyone ever used the .7z compresser? Its used when downloading Ut2004 maps, and it compresses like 30MB maps to about 4MB.. really handy..It can also open .rar and .zip archives.. but its not really universal.. so they didn't put much time in making it.

It depends on what you're compressing but I've seen 7z compress blam way better than ZIP/RAR/ACE. It's almost as good probably even better than MPQ compression.

Zip doesn't really fit SC maps anyway. A zipped Word document gets its size cut down by a gazillion times, but I've seen SC maps that, when zipped, grow LARGER in size.
