I found myself in a bit of a pickle today... does anyone know how, or even if its possible to make the following trigger become a reality?

Condition:
Player Brings Unit to Location

Action:
Computer Receives 1/1 upgrades.

you could use EUDS

ADDITION:
idk if there is any other way

No, you can't use EUDs. Actions were patched, basically, you just gotta let the computer upgrade by itself.

unless u have the eudenabler...

Which, as you should know, blizzard has started banning people for in a fit of bitterness.
But there are a few ways this could still be done, doesn't the computer upgrade while running a melee AI script? If so, you could make upgrades cost a specific resource and then give that resource to the computer when you want it to upgrade. You could also use several differen't computer players, each with different upgrade levels.

thats jus a rumer, noones knos for sure if they actually are, we ll jus have to wait untill someone actually gets banned :\

I really dont like the idea of using EUDs... I already thoguht about that method (giving minerals to comp running AI) but it would ruin parts of the game if i ran AI

yea i really dont like euds either, they kinda ruin the game if you ask me...
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Staredit.Net Essence on 2005-08-19 at 22:10:50
im happy with what i have, i dont need anymore =P

ADDITION:
I tested the AI Method.. I made each upgrade cost 3 minerals, and gave the computer 9 minerals with bring option, I made an evolution chamber for the comp, and put "run AI insane comp at location" no upgrades were made.. hmm i hope someone can figure this out, ive been trying to figure it out for awhile now

It isn't possible through normal triggers, trust me people have been trying this for ages. You cannot 'force' a computer to upgrade.

There is a way to upgrade non-weapon and armor upgrades without EUD's. Which upgrade are you looking for specifically?

Well, yeah, give a unit with the upgrade to the human player.

And people, really, were pretty sure thats why mrrll was tempbanned from battle.net, it was a warning. But feel free to use EUDenabler yourself and see.

Heimdal knew how to do this in some map he had on TSE...but sadly, I don't have it.
Give the computer over 500 minerals + gas and certain buildings...I'm not sure. mellow.gif

here what i think you should do, if you can when u want them upgraded then place a pre-upgraded unit instead of the un-up'd one. for example : remove all marine at location then create a jim raynor with pre upgraded gun's butt that would only work once sad.gif

If its a non damage/armor, you can place an upgrade building for a computer, and enable the upgrades and give them the amount of money they need to upgrade. When you bring a unit to a location, give the unit to the computer, wait a while, and the computer will upgrade the unit by itself. It's much like the defensive matrix system in Sasuraka RPG.

Actually, there was a thread on how to do this. It seems to me, however, it got deleted (for the third time in a row closedeyes.gif!)

The only real way to do this is to mess around with some AI scripts and check the preconditions they require before they upgrade. I have an example map with some level 1 protoss upgrades somewhere, lemme see if I can dig it up.

Keep in mind that AI scripts vary between single player and online play, so make sure you do your testing in the environment that the map will be played in.

hes right.

and sniper, (Mp)Sniper) i also thought that for a second but theres a much larger chance that the comp will spend that on units for itself than a crappy upgrade.

unless u make it gas.. wow i didnt thionk of that b4.
