Let's face it, threads in the News forum don't generally stay up too terribly long, perhaps a week or two because the list isn't updated by newest post. That's hardly long enough for these tournaments that we have, so why not make a Tournaments subforum where people post various tournaments being held? I think that it would greatly boost tournament activity.

Nah, sounds like a crappy idea. There isn't very many tournaments, so well, it would be useless. We have only like 7 tournies a year, so meh...just not worth it

Naw, there are plenty of clan tournaments as well, big and small. Besides, it would still get more activity than the Recommend and Review forum.

Waste of a forum.

Staredit.net isn't much of a tournament site. You're forgetting we differ majorly from other communities, in the fact that most people here are only interested in making map and testing other peoples and their own maps. Many people couldn't care to join in tournaments.
This site was DESIGNED for only the map making audience. There were not many sites that did that (although there are modding and campaign sites out there).

There's a tourney every few weeks to a month or so, it seems to me.
I might add, the top three news posts are tournament related. This just reinforces the fact that this is a good idea.

I think if we combined that with contests, a forum for general user interaction activities would be a great idea. Or maybe there could be a timeline somewhere (sort of like the member map) that would keep track of things like that. Is anybody still interested in the idea, or is this topic dead?

That's sounds like a good idea, but what exactley do you mean by user interaction? Deathknight constantly trying to hunt me down?

A newspost database would make more sense. You could search for teh titles, or just view them in chronologically placed order.

I'm already afraid that the UMS Map Making Tournament will lack support because it quickly got pushed out of sight on the News forum. I think I'll ask Yoshi if I can pin it in one of the forums, at least temporarily.

Yeah, same for the SEN Summer 2005 Tourney, pushed right out by an orgy of news posts. Anyway,
