Starcraft has been around for more than 7 years. Staredit Network has been around for 2 years. In this time, I have never seen a competitive UMS map tournament. So why let all the meleers have all the fun?
Welcome to the first Competitive Use Map Settings Tournament!
For some future tournaments, it may be surprise maps (you don't know what you're going to play until it is announced), time attack (in bounds or something, who can beat it the fastest), free for all, or team vs team.
For simplicities sake, we're going to label "Use Map Settings Tournament" as "UMST".
UMST #1, is going to take place on a Staredit Network favorite and a map that majority loves to play at map night,
UBERENA! Entry Fee: None.
1st Prize: A news post saying that you won (This is mostly experimental, so you mostly get 'bragging rights).
Prizes for everyone: Successful means more UMST's in the future.
Type: Team play. 3 people per team.
So, just find 2 other friends to make a team of EXACTLY 3 (zero exceptions, no matter how "elite" you are at uberena), and think of a team name for yourself. When finished, have one of the people on your team, or a team leader Private Message your team name and the people participating to me (Yoshi da Sniper).
Games will be played without a 3rd party observer. You and the opposing team will decide when to play. After a game, both parties must send one replay and report win/loss. It is pointless to cheat because there is no real prize besides the fact that more participation = more UMSTs with prizes and fun.
Any disconnection, or "leaving" of any individual on either team results in the team in question with a loss of a teammate. No restarts will be permitted unless the opposing team says agrees. So make sure you mowed the lawn and took out the garbage before you play.
Any "cheating" will result in the entire team being disqualified. "Cheating" means unauthorized use of 3rd party programs to gain an advantage. You are also not allowed to exploit glitches in the Starcraft engine. Glitches in a map are considered fair play unless stated otherwise.
When the brackets are announced, you may decide a time and date with your opposing team whenever you want, within reason. If your game doesn't take place soon, then I will start PMing both teams to see what is the problem. The team which "does not have time to come" within a certain deadline, will be disqualified.
A team member that is a "no show" CAN be replaced by someone not actively participating in the tournament already. You can scrape up someone from op sen, or someone on your friends list if you wish.
Deadline for teams: August 31st 2005.
Good luck!
