Staredit Network -> UMS Assistance -> Making Defence Map, need trigger levels help!

Well i am making a one of a kind map; a defence map in which all 8 players are defenders; the units that run are player 9's (similar to player 12). Now i need help doing the triggers; I want a 30 second countdown timer to start when the game starts. Once it reaches 0 i want to spawn some units and i already have the moving part done. I just need help using Death Counts to initiate levels and stuff. By the way; i do not think i have ever seen a defence similar to mine in which all 8 players are defending biggrin.gif

u cant make a 8 Players defence, i think, u cant use triggers on p9 - p255

u can make triggers, ppl hav realesed trigger packs, o u make trigger for player 8, open in SF and chnge player 8 to player 9, ive done this in a 8 player rpg the worked fine, unless its patched but i doubt it

You would need to have the people defending unallied or else the game won't start because it would say there is no opponent.. (I think) But I guess you could just make a trigger to ally them at the beginning of the game.

You'd have to use air units for the waves.

Otherwise the players can just wall, and P9-P12 won't attack.

What if player 8 had a command to order his units then it switches to player 9?
would they still be moving

is 8 player defence, if p8 can command p9 units that would ruin the game, also if u do that, is a lot of triggers (well maybe not), just make it for 7 players

P8 commanding P9's units won't ruin the game, but it won't help it either.

I don't think Orders are kept the exact same after giving a unit to another player. From what I've seen, it leads to erratic behaviors, and I highly doubt the Attack/Patrol orders would execute at all (other than moving).

If implemented correctly, nobody would notice that he just got the wave of monsters. However, the very implementation cannot work, so there's nothing else to consider.

You could put some of that weird starforge fog of war that doesnt disappear even if you see the area so he cannot click on the units that spawn and by time their in sight the unit is player 9s

ADDITION: im not sure if it would remove the fog of war if you create a new unit in the area so they might have to be preplaced

Yes you can; what i do is use Xtra Editor to make the triggers apply to Player 8, then i open the map in ScmDraft 2, and use the trigger editor to change it to affect player 9. It works.

ok what ever you guys said well here what i would do the units spawn for all the defenders and quickly turn to player 9 just as they are given the command to move you can infact make player 9-11 attack if they block
this way if player 8 left or something they still spawn

edit - they did attack until... there where exactly 8 players they attack with 1-7 players though

Just give all the triggers to P1. And make a trigger all players->No P1 in game->defeat to all.

P1 will hold all triggers. When there will be no P1 game will be aborted. I used this 1 time and it was cool. When host wants to rm it doesn't have to wait until everybody has left the game.

Its not an issue if they're gonna wall, the units are enclosed in an arena and run to the end, the defenders are surrounding them attacking them. And the reason it only attacked players 1-7 is because those were it's deafult ally status, you can just make a trigger to set defenders to enemy. But like i said that isnt my issue, i need to know how to use death counts to use levels, also i need an example to turn kills to cash. Any help is greatly appreciated guys!!

Just use the system from Stacked Cannon D: use 1 player for the enemies, and create the enemies so they begin BEFORE the end line of one end and move TO the end line of the other end. This way, if the players wall, the units would turn and go back to the end lines next to where they started and end in game over.

you CAN give orders to p9-p12

you just can spawn any units for them.

i made a 8 player defense map and it works,

each player defends on their own.

player 1 spawns player 1, then gives to to player 9
player 2 spawns player 2, then gives to player 9
ect...

The reason i did that is because when it was uploading, i have 5 mb to upload, the image is 16 mb so i just stopped it.

Convert it to .jpg or .gif, because .bmp is just way too big.

uhm yes you can, in scxe open the p12 mode, dont use p9 use p12(nuetral) and yes you can give orders to p12 smile.gif
