K I read that topic of first mod thing and it just go to my head and no time to try but can you change the cheats of sc? like instead of writting black sheep wall you write corbo is cool and not just that can you change the actions that they take like if i write corbo is cool it's supposed to be black sheep wall but also give all unit upgrades and even build them faster
just a question..

Yes you can but it requires very advanced hex editing on the starcraft.exe file and it wouldnt be worth it once your finished

The short answer is, for a beginner modder, no. The cheats are stored as hashes in the EXE, and so if you work out what the hashing algorithm is, yes you can change the cheats. But this could only be done by some person who has experience with these kinds of things.

Anything requiring ASM isn't worth modding. It would be easier to write your own game.

You can close your own topics. Look for the little box in the bottom-left corner that is titled "Moderation Options". It should have "close topic" in it.

I know Disciple of Adun had done some cheat editing before, (with SCXE, I assume). So I guess you'll have to wait for that, or learn to hex edit. fear.gif

I can't quite agree with this. With all its capabilities, CASM is the future of SC modding (if there is any...), so it's definitely worth the be researched upon. True, it's hard and difficult, but wasn't the DAT hacking hard'n'tough back in the days? It's the same story here.
Easy things are often not worth the effort put to achieve them, while the hard ones go the other way round, if you ask me.

True, but scale it to the unlimited freedom of your own game engine.

I guess it wouldn't feel like Starcraft, but still...

*coughs*

Excuse-me, but I feel more confortable fiddling with the memory offsets than trying to make a game engine of my own. And you're 100% right - it wouldn't feel like SC, anyways.
