Is is possible to get one map type (ashworld) and use it in another type (badlands)? and if not why not could that be fixed in a future update for an editor like scmdraft or starforge?

No and no, StarCraft's engine can only load one tileset at a time.

The only way that can be made is modding

i seem to remember some programs changing the tileset of maps, but it can get somewhat messed up and sometimes very blocky, i remember i changed a space map to desert, it worked but looked really weird and messed up, but u could fix it...

i think its guedit or something and/or scmdraft 1, i might be very wrogn though...

scmdraft 2 can do it aswell, but it might give lots of null

You can do it in GUEdit. Look in "outdated programs" in dldb. But I'm not sure if ashworld is included in there. I think some tilests are missing.

Jeez, I thought this would be common knowlege by now...
YOU CAN'T MIX TILESETS!

Do we need a freaking pinned topic devoted entirely to this one subject?

Just for the record, I am "sorta" working a blend-all-tilesets mod, but there are two problems. One: It may not be even possible to fit all the squares into a single tileset due to limitations on terrain types. Second: Don't expect any blend-all-tileset mod to be done within at least around a year, it is a gigantic task of using tiledit to out put and remix the tile squares and then re-entering the correct tile information.

Even then, it would only be useful with the mod running and it would be quite a big mod for such a small thing (individual tilesets are huge). Then there is also the tehcnical issue of not actually being able to add your own tileset, but if I remember correctly someone was working on a program that let you hex-edit the starcraft exe to allow you to make complete customs (not just editing old, but adding new). Then theres another technical issue of color pallets, and that's another thing to mess with. Meh, don't expect it to ever get done.

If you do make only use some of the different tilesets, don't use badlands except for the asphalt, and don't use installation at all, probably have to change all the doodads too though... disgust.gif
