H A L F - L I F E _2________Fallen CitadelThis started as my "I am so bored...I'll go start yet ANOTHER map" project. Now it's gonna (hopefully) be the map I finish.
Story Info:The Citadel has exploded from the inside thanks to Gordon making the Combine teleporter and the "Breen's Super Teleporter Bubble of Slowness" explode. The Citadel is now a wreck, waiting to be salvaged and/or rebuilt. But that'll take a while, and the citizens of the remaining cities aren't going to stand idle. The Resistance that was formed just before the Citadel's destruction hasn't died out yet, and neither have the annoying headcrabs we all know and lov- err...hate. Gordon's still somewhere unknown as is Alyx. The Citadel's wreck caused chaos among all around it, and the Resistance needs to regroup. Meanwhile...you...the player is taking a train off to somewhere...somewhere you're unsure of. But during your nervous and uneventful ride, the train crashes as it's hit by a barrage of explosives from above and slams into a makeshift barrier. Later, you wake up to find a flaming wreck right in front of you. Run, before it's too late.
Objectives:-Get a weapon
-Find the Resistance/some rebels (optional, but useful)
-Survive!!
Enemies:Headcrabs:
Annoying pests that like latching on people's heads and taking control. Also doesn't help that there are 3 kinds of 'em. 1) Normal: Mostly just plain normal annoying Black Mesa (from HL1) headcrab type. They'll appear in wierd spots to plain be annoying to you. Two pistol shots will take them down, so do it. Before it flies at your skull. 2) Fast: They go faster and they hurt just the same. Even more annoying. 3) Poison: Holy heck, you don't wanna have to face this with another enemy around, cuz they reduce your health down to one using a powerful toxin. ONE POINT. While your health WILL regenerate, an enemy can more (read: VERY VERY VERY!!!) easily kill you in the meantime. Aaaand the Combine launch 3 of 'em in a canister at enemies. Talk about biological warfare. Sheesh.
NOTE: Headcrab speeds are handled with moving a unit under it. Fast heddy's will ZOOM while the normal one... crawls... slowly...
Zombies:
Ooooooooh. Meee eeaaat braaaains. Actually, the typical HL zombie isn't the stereotypical zombie that has dark green flesh all over, moans slowly with a low pitch, and eats brains or stuff like that. Looks more like a clumsy human that's slow, bloody, headcrabbed, and spurts some light green blood when hit. Since the headcrabby's make zombies, there's 3 zombie types. 1) Normal: Slow, but when they surround you, they can be a big pain. 2) Fast: Fast crab, fast zombie. Their skin has practically melted right off or something. They don't hurt as much per hit but they can be really fast, not to mention scary during ambushes. 3) Poison: As if poison heddy's were bad, the poison zombie eats up damage to the point of surviving an explosive (I think I got TWO direct hits on him with nades...). To make it worse, he also has two poison headcrabs taking piggybacks with him. When the zombie bends down, the headcrab basically gets a platform to jump from. Beware.
NOTE: Zombie speed is handled by moving a unit under it (so fast zombie moves LIKE CRAZY, while a normal zombie... is... this... slow...)
Antlions:
Insect-ish bugs that aren't hard to kill by themselves, but keep coming. These guys can practically take out combine in like, one hit. In addition, they're decently fast too. Run, and kill only the ones you need to kill. There are thumpers around as well, which the antlions will stay away from. Later, you'll be able to use them yourself, assuming you can kill an antlion guard and get the "Bugbait"...
Antlion Guards:
Oh man, if antlions sucked for ya...this big one's gonna rip your guts out alive. Not commonly seen but bugbait doesn't work on 'em, and they're incredibly tough. Strongest enemy you don't NEED explosives (or the energy ball, remember the second to last chapter with that strider?) for.
Metrocops:
Combine police in the cities essentially. Not that tough but can wield guns. First enemy you'll ever see that can. They like pistols and stunsticks but will use SMG's. Headshots are especially effective on 'em ^_^ (1/2 headshots with a pistol puts 'em down). Not a challenge but are often seen early on. Also known as Civil Protection (CP).
Combine Soldier:
These guys use shotties and SMG's more, and ignore the pistol. I think they might use the pulse rifle as well. Essentially, these are beefier, better armed metrocops. And they have cooler looking suits too. Oh and they use 'nades. Annoyingly painful.
Combine Super Soldier:
Oh yea. These are THE elite. They'll use only the pulse rifle and will use the pulse ball to put the smack on you. Why use nades when you can fry 'em to nothin' with a richocheting ball? Besides, their white uniform rocks. The last combine foot soldier type you'd wanna meet.
Strider:
Rockets and pulse balls. Two ways to kill a strider. Only two you'll use really (unless you count the SMG nade, which sucks at doing it anyways). These guys have a warp cannon and can blow houses up. Paaiiin.
Gunship:
Another rocket/pulse ball only enemy. They fly around and hurt like heck. They even have a warp cannon too. A pain in my !@#$ing butt, due to the fact they're great at dodging, AND SHOOTING YOUR ROCKETS DOWN!
Dropship:
Think StarCraft dropship, but with a standard vehicle turret on it, less capacity, a differant look, and the ability to be indestructable at all times. However, the container carrying its load can take only a couple of rockets (on easy anyways...).
Scanners:
Annoying useless flying things that can blind you with a funny camera flash. The most they can do is divebomb you. Target practice, ammo waster, annoying flying flashbang all describe it. They also reley info to the Combine, hence "Scanner".
Manhack:
The name says it. They're flying buzzsaws with a red light. Flying BUZZSAWS. Yea, you find it funny? So did I. These guys tend to swarm on you, but a spray of fire can take out a row of 'em that can't escape the blasting.
Barnacles: They stick to ceilings. What's so bad about 'em? Their sticky tongue can pull you up to where you get EATEN ALIVE. So, just avoid 'em. *evil voice* OR ELSE. */evil voice* For clusters, it's a fun idea to give 'em an explosive barrel to chew on, and detonate it as it goes close to its mouth.
Systems used in map:-Manual aim
-Ammo(Possibly)
-Zero Point Energy Manipulator AKA Gravity Gun (This is gonna be quite a pain to do...especially the FLING part...so I might not do it quite like in the game)
-Virtual HP (Poison crabs doing 99 damage when you have 50 health is an insta-no no)
-Sniping system (Crossbow/357 Magnum anyone?)
-Traps (Like in the real game, there are some spots where you could do something, and it'd kill enemies without using much ammo, like an explosive barrel trap or the spinning Ravenholm-Blades-On-An-Engine... I think I like Father Grigori ^_^)
-Movement system (Walk, run, crouch. Crouch is the only way to get past a spinning blade machine but the system might not be used due to complications/balance issues)
-VENTS! (Actually, I just wanted to say that. Err... no really, you do have to break vents. BREAK THEM I SAY!! BREAAAAK THEEEM!!! Oops, forgot to tell you headcrabs like hiding around vents too.)
Other Features:-HL2 Sounds, if I can get 'em somehow. Maybe somebody could help? I already got HL2 music (and HL1...
).
Weapons-Crowbar
Oh yea, teh CROWBARZ! Who needs to explain this...WHEN YOU CAN WHACK ZOMBIEZ!!! Uh... it also works for a CP's head. Bash his skull in...BASH IT IN GOOD.
-Pistol
Nothing cool about it, it's just a USP Match. Pop headcrabs. Or a metrocop. Or zombies. Or anything that won't hurt you too much while you kill it.
-SMG
The average SMG with on-contact grenades. Spray and pray. Maybe I'll add the secondary 'nade launcher too. Exposive fun.
Note: Grenades have limited ammo, while the SMG will have infinate
-Pulse Rifle
Sweet. Pwn stuff. Vaporize them with the plasma ball
. Basically a more powerful SMG with an unconventional grenade. Crazy stuff.
Note: The plasma ball works in the same way as the SMG nade. Limited ammo.
-Grenade
Limited supply again. You'll find boxes with an infinate supply though.
-Bugbait
Hated how annoying antlions were to you? Use them on the enemy.
The other weapons might be in the game, but they might not.
(That means Crossbow, Gravity Gun, Shottie, .357 Magnum, and stuff)
Progress: REALLY REALLY SLOW
Screenies: I hit the max, and I'm not sharing the map until I can at least get worthy playability into it. Not exactly in two hours, eh?
