Be more precise about what do you mean by "your own attacks". Do you mean the new weapons or new attack animations or what? In the first case - you need to edit the weapons.dat file with Arse3 or Arsenal Zero. In the second one - you use IceCC/ICE to replace the existing animations or create completely new sets for your custom units. Creating the whole animation takes some time, because you need to specifiy where each single image frame goes, but it definitely is rewarding in the end.

to 0

This is because if you exceed a certain number of characters in ICE (5 if I remember correctly) then the data goes back to the default value which is 0. To get over this you need to delete a character before inputting a new one. The way I do this is killing the whole offset number with DEL and then input my stuff.

It's precisely what you get - there are many opcodes whose fonctionality is still unknown, so they're labeled as unknown. Don't worry though - they're not of much use either. smile.gif

can you Explane my second Queston a bit more please?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by BroodKiller on 2005-08-31 at 10:39:56
Zander>Sure.
The problem is that the boxes that store the offset values for different animations in ICE (like for the Initial animation, Death animation, Repeated Ground Attack etc.) can't accept more than a certain number of characters in them. I don't remember this number precisely (I think it's 5 or 6) but if you exceed it (e.g. you have 31162 in the box and you want to add 2 characters and get 3116299) the box content will automatically reset itself and put the default value in it, which is 0, because it's the 'safe offset' for anything.
This was implemented to prevent errors in linking of the animations, as well as exceeding the maximal Iscript.bin size, which is fixed and will produce a crash if you try to get over it.

HeavyClone>Please, I can't help you if you don't express yourself in a legible way, ok? Use proper grammar and lexics and state precisely what do you want because I can't make the tiniest bit of sense out of what you're writing...

How....ok, nevermind. I think that I misunderstood you before - I thought that you meant the animation sets tab, while you meant the animation edition tab...nevermind....biggrin.gif

All that you need to do is to press ENTER when you input the value that you want. That'll do it....smile.gif

I mean it - try it. smile.gif

You know what? Learn some proper grammar and lexics before you begin asking questions because I'm not gonna try and decipher "what could you possibly mean" by your gibberish. For the blam's sake REPHRASE PLEASE!!

BROODKILLER DON'T FLAME HIM FOR ASKING QUESTIONS mad.gif
Report, edit, etc...Posted by BroodKiller on 2005-09-01 at 13:53:22
I am not flaming him for asking questions - he's free to do it. I'm just giving out useful advices. Wouldn't you want yourself to hear a well-formed and lexically correct question? Well, I do , and so I express myself. And let me here get over his 'message', once you tossed the ball back at me...:

"when ever i change come thing" - "Whenever I change something"
"it goes out of overlay 90 and back to inturnal ground attack whars with that?" - "it goes out of overlay 90 and back to internal ground attack. What's wrong with that?"

And let me put these together, oh right?:

"Whenever I change something (when i went in to overlay 90 (the one i made), it goes out of overlay 90 and back to internal ground attack. What's wrong with that?"

This doesn't make any goddamn sense to me. What goes out of overlay 90? What's "internal ground attack"? What is he changing? What is overlay 90? What animation do you edit? I can produce a dozen more questions like that.

Guys, I really from the depth of my heart want to help you out, that's why I came here, anyways. But you're not helping me in any way in doing it. So, help me help yourself and express yourself in a legible and comprehensible way, 'cause otherwise we won't get anywhere, ok?

And ok - maybe I was too harsh at the moment, but my point remains the same, whether you prefer it the 'lighter way' or not. cool1.gif

Actually I want to side with BroodKiller here, because I often feel the same way. When you ask a question, you're asking the person to take their precious time to write up an answer to your question. I often take an hour to write responses to some of the questions here. BroodKiller has been modding for five years, and I think that some people are really lucky to be able to have access to knowledgeable modders like BroodKiller. To have BroodKiller spending his time on you is a big thing, and so I think that when you ask a question you should show him some respect for the time he's giving you, and take the time to ask it properly with correct spelling and grammar, and a full explanation as to what you're trying to do, how you have done it, what is actually happening, and specifically which part you need help with.

I don't think it's fair to not take the time to fully explain what is going on and expect someone else to spend their time trying to work out what is going on and then take more time to answer your question. Be fair, there's no reason for BroodKiller to spend his time on you if you're not willing to spend some time on him.

I honestly don't know what you mean. Which program are you using, what do you mean by overlay, what's overlay 90 and how did you make it? Whenever you ask a question you need to automatically give all the full details, we shouldn't have to ask you to tell us everything. And use words we understand without having to think about them, like shouldn't "come thing" be "something" and "inturnal ground attack" be "initial ground attack"? Like I said, you need to show that you're willing to take the time to ask the question before anyone else should have a reason to take the time to answer your question.

Thanks for the support BSTRhino - I guess sometimes I'm just not patient enough (like you are...smile.gif).
But anyways, let's not start sucking each other's blams quite yet, shall we?

Zander, won't you mind rephrasing your problem?

Stop the flaming, all you need to say is "Could you rephrase that, its hard to read."
