Staredit Network -> UMS Assistance -> Ordering a Computer Probe to Mine minerals
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Elvang on 2005-09-01 at 00:23:09
How do I order a computer's probe to mine minerals? I looked at the various scripts and I didn't see any useful ones... What I am trying to do is have a probe be created at a units death then have it ordered to mine minerals in the middle of the map so it will go through other units, then when it reachs the middle and finishs mining it will be removed and the unit that died will be brought back.

Well, if I can't... Then does anyone know of a way where I can create a unit at a units death site then have it go through the maze without blocking any other units(it must follow the path...)?

I think if you run an campaign (town) AI in a location containing a peon (mining unit), resources, and a resource depot, all the peons will mine. I'm no AI expert though.

i now think making a unit do something is all in AI scrits =/ except moving, attacking or patroling and stuff lol

To make a unit go through a maze and ignore everything around it, you could just blind the unit, either via medic or by removing shared sight with that player for that player. Then, just have it move to the end of the maze.

Yeah, it's under the Run AI Script At Location action.

QUOTE(Staredit Help)
Each Campaign AI Script is associated with a Location. This Location must be centered near a source of Minerals and a source of Vespene Gas.

Since Area Town has "Campaign" in front of it, I'd assume that you need to include the resources in the location where you run that script as well.

that makes no sense. hes trying to make the probe do the glitch where it will walk through all of the minerals if you tell it to mine.

I was planning on making a mineral patch in mid anyways but is there any way to get around the cc?

What do you mean "get around the cc"?

Also, why would you want a probe mining to be part of a Respawn trigger? Is it for the visual or the timing?

run ai script "toss, terran or zerg campaing area town"at location(X)

the X location should cover the miner the comand center hatchery or nexus and should cover the mineral patch also otherwise it won't work

i don't know if the glitch works doing it like this but that's how u get a miner to mine

If the probe is ordered to "gather" or "return cargo" then the glitch will work. I wouldn't so much call it a glitch because I think blizzard meant it to be there to speed up resource gathering instead of having probes run into each other every step.
