Sorry if my first post was locked. I accidentally locked it. My question is if i can do this terrain things in the original StarEdit Campaign Editor. If not, what do i need?
The best you're going to be able to do with StarEdit is default ISOM and plain doodads. If you want better terraining options, try SC Xtra. If you want excellent terraining options, try StarForge or SCMDraft.
xtra has the same doodad and isom placement as regular staredit, use scmdraft and starforge, scmdraft will prolly be easier for u to use since yur new and all, but once u get used to starforge itll be worth it...
I use SCMdraft to make my isom base, then change the indevidual tiles in starforge, then place any needed sprites on the terrain, but sometimes I just use SCMdraft for the tiles as well.
Staredit - Best isom, nothing more.
X-tra - The same as X-tra for terraining.
SCM-draft - Second least buggy isom (but it stills screws up once in awhile) square is the same as Starforge, but you have to enlarge the screen everytime.
Starforge - Bad regular isom but it works wonders if you wana put isom on square, or put 2 different isoms closer than they should be able to be. In my opinion the best terrain pallette and interface for placing all terrain.
Only the last 2 can be used for sprite placement, but I prefer SCMdraft because some sprites look very different in starforge than in-game.
ya but in scmdraft they have the sprites that can crash mixed in with all the other sprites...
and in starforge the isom is messed up cuz it doesnt place it normally like staredit, xtra, and draft do, it places it so if u make a building or something with the palette, and then u want to add a building or whatever on by using isom, it wont mess up all the work u did on the building by hand...

that's what I ment by "placing over squares"
If I can do it in Campaign Editor, How? What the hell is ISOM? What are the things you were talking about?
You CAN'T do it in the Campaign Editor.
ISOM = Isometric terrain. The default terrain placement style in the Campaign Editor.
