Staredit Network -> UMS Assistance -> Text detection (EUD conditons)

Using the latest verson of uBeR@tiOn, it's possible to detect text.
I have so many (probably miscocieved) questions about that condition that I decided to just break down and beg for a brief tutorial.
But to start off with, can it detect stuff the players are saying? or just trigger created text? (my guess is that it can detect stuff the players are saying).

i think you can detect who said the text i think. like Deathknight changed his name to TeathKnight of something

It detects the RAM for whatever is on the screen. If the screen says

DT_Battlekruser: lol
Yoshi_Da_Sniper: lol

then it can detect all that text. Byte 0 of line 2 is D, byte 1 is T, and so on.

That's enough for me to understand and put it to work... but I still think a tutorial should be drawn up for people less exspiranced.

However, there is a problem here. This makes it so text detection is impratical becuase everyone has names of different sizes.

Does that mean it can't work pratically?
(Well, you can always have them specify how long their name is at the begining of the game. But that takes too many triggers)

OOC: (The yellow part of your siggy is quite a painful jab at Rexy)

Yes, the bytelen makes it hard to use practically. You could have it attempt to search for the ": " after each name though.

OOC: No, it's a jab at wesmic (the loser)

Well, there is a way to detect player names through another EUD trigger, so I'll look into that.

OOC: Ahh, I see now. I thought of Rexy at first becuase she shouts in yellow, you should make the text pink.

I think I'll lock this topic for now.
