Staredit Network -> Modding Assistance -> Help With Unused Unit

Ok.

I Modified The 2nd Unused In Arsenal 3 And Made Everything Exactly The Same.

I Ran It On Staredit, And It Had A Second Lurker In The * File.

I Saved It As A Map File And Used It In Brood War, And It Still Looked Like A Scout.

WHY?!?!

By The Way It Wont Let Me Upload.

It Keeps On Saying This:

Upload failed. You are not permitted to upload a file with that file extension.

Why?

If you modify a unit with modding it will only show up on your mod tongue.gif

Did you change the graphic in Arsenal III? Once you do so it automatically uses the iscript of what you chose. And did you create your mod correctly?

BTW, the forum doesn't accept .exe, I think. Place it in a zip file then try to upload it.

The downloads database wont let you upload because you're not uploading a correct extention, in your case, mods are only accepted in .zip for the reason that they typically have multipule files anyway, zips can contain instructions, and they're compressed somewhat.

I think TERRAINFIGHTER had your answer here. If you want your mod to work in-game, then you need to mod the game when you run it.

Say for example you modded unit 191 to look like your second Lurker. When you mod the editor and place your second Lurker, the only thing it remembers is unit 191 was placed at the position you chose. Then when you open the map in normal StarCraft, it creates a unit 191, but because you haven't modded StarCraft you get whatever unit Blizzard created for unit 191, which would be unused and probably would crash the game.
