I'll be posting a map for it soon, but I've made "arrow keys" work for unit movement. You select the starport. Then the hotkeys for unit building turn your unit in different directions. W(wraith) = up, D(dropship) = down, V(science vessel) = left, B(battlecruiser) = right, Y(valkyrie) = Stop.
Everyone takes my ideas =/
I think this would be a better system
W=up
D=down
V=left
B=right
Y=stop

It's the exact same thing I said.
Already done it
.
Also cool is making it so that the keys correspond to stop, go, turn clockwise, and turn counterclockwise...most 3rd person overhead games use something more like that. Even better, you can have a very large number of possible directions...the simplest form of this allows 8 directions with an 8- or 9-unit grid (depending on whether the player unit is under/over the grid or in the middle of it), but you could also make it with 16 directions, 24 directions, 32 directions, etc.
And there are different options other than simply having pressing a button correspond directly to a command. For example, you could have a realistic space simulator where pressing a turn key gives you rotational momentum that way, and pressing the go key gives you directional momentum in the way you were facing. There's a lot of posssibility to this.
I'll post the map I made tonight, It's going to be a "snake" map.
It's a real pain though, having to deal with the odd sets of keys for the actions. I do understand there's no other way however. Theres also the small delay for unit training.
Sounds Kewl
heh though u actually use the arrow key in keyboard, that would b cool
It is possible Vic. You need to combine EUD conditions with a continually centering screen.
Whenever they move the screen with the arrow keys, you detect it, and recenter it.
This concept is extremely old and I've seen it done a lot. However it does make for a cool movement system if you put it into a good map.
This is stupid.
Silent(U) aka artanis already did it in his map.
The map sucked to tell the truth, it was so annoying.
I would suggest WASD and E for stop.
You don't get how it works. Pressing a unit selects a hotkey for a build. There's not building with hotkeys w,a,s,d,e for building units. This discovery is sort of a trick.
I've just uploaded the map that apply keyboard input to unit's movement.
By the way, I've given credits to DaMiNaToR and m.r.bob.
Nice
Kinda dumb. I just finished my fighting conceptuals. There awsome whoever wants to make a streetfighter type map or boxing map PM me. I got some sick concepts and a nice gridder.
Which EUD Condition did you use for that map? BTW, great job on the map. Never knew it could be done
thats a really good idea, but you need to find a better one. because i can barly stretch my fingers across that. but, its good!
i know alot of people that have used it. But I'll give you props for submiting it.
Sounds cool, it will be wierd though, and very slow, and if someone is attacking that building you have to stop, land build units or bring units which will chew ip some time, you should make the buildings go like 4X the speed or something, if you can that is
All I have to say is. Why?

EUDs aren't used for this map, and also they were patched already. As he said, you train units from a starport to move the unit.
Subrosion, EUD conditions were not patched. Eud actions were patched because of possible virus execution in triggers, but conditions cannot because they are just the "cause" and not the "effect"
