Staredit Network -> Concepts -> Detecting Who Fired Dark Swarm with EUD

If I understand EUD conditions correctly, wouldn't you be able to set the energy of Dark Swarm to 250, and then when there is a Dark Swarm on a map, detect which unit has 0 energy, and therefore be able to detect who used the Dark Swarm? Could make for some interesting maps. I was thinking a much cooler version of snipers.

Yes. Using EUD conditions, you can also detect if a unit is parasited AND by which player. This could also be usful for effects in maps.

I thought EUD Conditions were now referred to as ECT's? I think its easier to remember, and people who 'just' scan the text wont flame you for refering back to a patch. + its easier to type 3 letters (E C T) then 13 letters (E U D C O N D I T I O N S) smile.gif

You can't stop us from calling them EUD Conditions if we like. It just seems more natural since we called the others EUDs.

But what if two players were to fire a darkswarm at a time, would that mess it up?

Somewhat, it could still detect that they both shot a dark swarm but if it were killing things and it were recording kills it would mess it up I think.

You can use the unit number to detect it's energy. My map I'm making right now uses the exact system your talking about, and as far as I know, it works. You just need to keep the unit's number set so you can use the trigger to detect it's energy. You can not just detect if a unit is a defiler, you must detect it from it's unit number.

Yes, it would work, theres no reason for it not to, but if 2 shoot at the same time you won't be able to determine which defiler made which dark swarm.

Tuxedo knows (I think...)

And simply said, it's so close to impossible to fire a dark swarm at the exact same time that is hardly a case to look at. But hey, it could happen. It might be useful then to just add a second layer of protection using an oversized location around the defiler to detect the swarm there, then you would only have to worry about two defilers being within each other's zone and firing at the exact same time.
