Since I've been in an odd, funny, photo editing mood lately, I'll start a thread where people can submit pics of themselves (not strangers or other people, i'll try to find out if its you) so I can mess them up!! See my avatar? That used to be syphon8, but now it's Ronald McDonald! Muahahaha!

Yeah. I used the richest red for his coat and it still looked all washed out. Darker red looked pale brown. Even green looked brownish. UUUGGGLLYYY!!!!1 Also, I can't edit layers with that type of file.

So please, no GIF images!

*wonders if DK submitted a gif on purpose to limit my editing...*

I'm pretty sure images can be converted... Use Irfanview if you don't already.

I just tryed the "save as" thing in photoshop and it would convert to the filetype I selected (jpg was not an option, interestingly), but it would still have the same limits as a gif. I didn't try any other photo conversion though. I was too sleepy last night to stress on it too much. I just ended up doing what you see above.

Irfan view is a nice side-tool to have for viewing and converting images of various different types, including BMP, GIF, ICO, JPG, PCX, PNG, TGA, and other formats. You can also edit, import/export colour palettes, change colour depth, resize/resample. This is all I use it for basically, but it has various other optionis. Irfanview is freeware, so there's no annoying popups or trials.
