EVERARCHA RPG : THE AVARIAN CHRONICLES
IS BEING REINTRODUCED INTO PRODUCTIONI'm pleased to announce to the map making community that I am resuming production on Everarcha RPG: The Avarian Chronicles.http://www.staredit.net/index.php?showtopi...00entry317107QUOTE(Everarcha RPG - Beginning Passage)
There are two sides of the heart. You can find both in two forms, one fiction -- one fact. But herein lies the problem: are then, fiction and fact, independent? in that both are two different sides to a coin? No, like many if not all opposites, one cannot survive without the other. In that sense, there is the connection. What happens -- when the heart stops? In fact, the heart is a pivotal part of our body, an organ that pumps blood through our veins and through our arteries that lets us move, lets us feel, to see, to taste, to live. But in fiction, as well as fact, because therein lies their connection: the heart moves us, like said in those epic stories, to one another. To have – heart -- for one another. Without heart, without life, without the pulsation coming from both, we lack therein the connection they hold. To love is to live. What happens when the heart stops? Even for a split second? What happens -- when we hesitate – and when we seem unable to move on?
I am very aware that much of the map making community was disappointed with the prior version of ERPG: TAC. In the same sense, I have decided to completely redesign the map to fit the expectations of those around me. As many of you were blantly aware, the largest disappoint was the inefficiency of the battle system and its workings. I have redesigned the battle system to make it much more effecient and bug-free, yet still keeping the essentialities of the prior areas. The other components, such as backpacks, items, spells, and ailments are still being incorporated into the map, and I will go into more detail what changes will be made. Hold on, folks!
CHANGES BEING MADE:-
Revised Battle System. Redesigned to be more convenient, easier to control, and more bug-free and interactive than ever before!-Revisions in character and enemy balances to create a challenging, yet enjoyable experience for players.
-Incorporates an intricate story line yet to unfold into the Everarchan Saga.
-Unique Bosses that will pose a challenge to any player
BATTLE SYSTEM REDESIGNMenuThere will now be a gateway menu instead of "Character to Character" based commands. This will keep the commands effecient and easier to use, but I assure you that it still opens up multitudes of opportunity for variation and strategy use. In order to issue commands however, a certain amount of minerals will be required to issue them. These minerals are known as "Command Input Capability" or CIC. Your CIC will constantly go up, and the rate of CIC will increase as you progress in the game.
Character CommandsYou can now control which character is giving which command, contrary to the previous version where command was random. You can switch Character command by using your gateway menu, and it can be used any time, considering you meet the requirements to do so. It is also very easy to tell which character is in command by a constant "Transmission Circle" on that character, and I can assure you this system is very efficient.
Virtual HP (VHP) still implementedThe virtual HP (or VHP) will still be implemented. Character VHP is now represented in the Scoreboard, while enemy VHP is still represented as gas.
Battles are much less boring! (WOOHOO)Now your battles will actually look like battles! --- Yay!
Sorrounding Terrain Battles Still Active!Yes! Battles will
still take place where you encounter your enemies! This will allow a much more variated and interesting combat sequence each time, where terrain, doodads, buildings, and other "gizmos" will affect your battles!
New AilmentsThere are a few more ailments, some revised and some new ailments deviated:
Poison - Depletes HP over time
Confusion - Constantly switches Character Commands to make issuing orders more difficult
Paralysis - Pauses "Command Input Capability" to allow restricted commands for a duration of time
Blind - Makes the battle area impossible to see for a duration of time to make composing strategies more difficult

THE DEMO IS NOW RELEASED!http://www.staredit.net/index.php?download=1928http://www.staredit.net/index.php?download=1928http://www.staredit.net/index.php?download=1928[/center]
DEMO TUTORIALStarting BattlesYou will be using the "Party" unit to move around. When you encounter an enemy, a battle will start and the sorrounding area becomes a 25x25 battle arena. This arena will include all doodads, neutral units, terrain and other "gizmos" within that area.
Character CommandThe Gateway at the upper right hand corner will be used to control your characters. Character commands are issued by creating units at the gateway and entering menus and submenus. Creating units will require minerals, or also known as "CIC" or Command Issue Capability. The way you will be able to tell which character you are commanding is simple: you will see that your commanding character will At the beginning of the battle, you will not be commanding any characters. Here are the available commands you can use in the demo:
/////////////////////////////////////////////////
Zealot - Switch Character Command
Dragoon - Initiate Attack
Dragoon - Combo Attack (This command is issued when the commanding Character is already attacking and you create a Dragoon. See more details at the bottom)
/////////////////////////////////////////////////
Basic AttackAs you can tell from the very beginning of the battle, there's a lot going on. However, the system is fairly easy to learn. To initiate an attack, use your gateway to create a dragoon. The commanding character will be given to player one, where all of your upgraded weapons will increase the rate at which the enemy is killed. However, you are also rendered vulnerable to attacks by the Active Enemy.
Combo AttackCombo Attacks are intitiated when the Commanding Character is already attacking and you order it to attack again. Combo Attacks will instanty kill an enemy and deplete it's Virtual HP for a random duration of time. As you progress in the game, the chances of having long strings of combo attacks will increase. However, the longer the string of combo attack there is, the less capable you are of issuing commands, because your CIC will be depleted also.
Ailments Active in Version .o1There are two basic Ailments that may affect your battle:
Poison and Confusion. These are two of the four total remaining ailments, which also include
Blind and Paralysis.
Poison - Depletes your HP over time, will randomly be lifted.
Confusion - Constantly Switches Character Command, making issuing commands difficult.
Blind - Will cause the active arena to become not visible to the player, making deciding which command to issue difficult.
Paralysis - Your CIC Rate is paused for a short duration of time, limiting the number of commands able to be issued.

RECENT UPDATES9/19/05
====================================================
Unit AttributesSome enemies may have special attributes associated with them, which are shown in the light green abbreviations next to their name. These attributes have special effects that may effect your gameplay and your strategy. Here is the basic key:
B - This unit has the ability to cause the ailment "
Blind"
C - This unit has the ability to cause the ailment "
Confusion"
P - This unit has the ability to cause the ailment "
Poison"
F - This unit has the ability to cause the ailment "
Freeze"
S - This unit possesses a
Sheild Barrier capable of rendering Combo Attacks useless
Fear // CourageSome of your characters may "Fear" certain enemies for various reasons. This usually happens when your Party encounters an enemy of a much higher power or level, and this causes you unable to initiate attacks and spells during battle for a short period of time. You will have a lack of "Courage".
As you gain levels, your "Courage" will also increase. There are other means of acquiring "Courage" as well, usually by winning competitions or quests.
The amount of "Courage" you have will also enable you to enter certain places. By using this system, you will be required to fight a number of battles or complete a number of quests to progress in the game.

====================================================
BLACKSMITH AND ALCHEMISTThe Blacksmith and Alchemist shops have been added. In these areas, you can pay money (gas) to improve your battling experience. You can upgrade attack damage, armor resistance, buy usable items, and perhaps gain some useful information here also. However, be warned. These shops are vulnerable to attack by enemies, and will be if engaged in battle. If destroyed, they will become permanantly closed.
BlacksmithThe blacksmith is very essentially a place where you can upgrade. There's not too much special about this, other than you can perhaps acquire some useful information here.
AlchemistThe alchemist is a place where you may brew a potion or item that may be useful in combat or when idle. The system is simple. You are given a Hive, known as the "Alchemist's Pot" and you will pick one out of nine items to brew. It will take a while to brew. You may brew up to 3 items at a time. You can always leave (you don't need to wait for it to finish), and when it is finished, you will recieve the item in your inventory. Here are some screenshots:
