Staredit Network -> UMS Assistance -> Players droped at begining of game?

Ok, heres the thing, i finished making a defence map, tested, and fixed all bugs, except one, when i test it with other players, they automatically lag and get droped at the begining of the map, after mission briefing, im sure someone has had this problem before, does anyone know what could have caused this?

I've heard of the solution to this problem before but i forgot it so ill do my best to give you some ideas. It may be to many sprites/triggs/units/or maybe your file is corrupt. I don't really know so i just gave you my ideas.

im sure its not triggs or units, or maybe its becuz im using a broodwar program for starcraft classic

i had this problem with my diplomacy once, it had to do with to much stacking, or the map was to crowded with units, i dunno if its the same case with ur defense, but when i cleared the map of a good majority of my units, the map started running smoother, and nobody dropped

oh yeah thats where i remembered the problem coming from. One time i was playing a diplo game and if you passed 100 units you would drop.

thats what i find wierd, my map only has around 20 units on the map il up load it maybe its becuz of the terrain

you got alot more than 20 but it still shouldn't drop people. When i opend the map in sc-xe all the space was registerd as void. I have no clue why. But maybe you shouldn't have the cerebrates stacked so close??? I dunno give it a shot

It could have been hand drawn but we are talking like a months worth of work just to get it on there.

WTF?!?!? theres a program u can use?!? i did it all freen hand using photoshop zoomed in at 1600% omg it took me like 4 hours to finish that

It has something to do with triggers. I need to find out what editor you use. Also i need to know wether or not the players crash or just drop.

On a side note you guys do not need to be posting when you do not know what you are doing. Just because you have a certain amount of units on a map does nothing.

Things that make things crash
Certain sprites
Players besides 1-12
Units that have a build speed of 0
Disabling units while looking at the unit.

Things that can make other players drop
mod or some incorrecft coding in your map.
creating a lot of units very fast (people with an old ass slow ass comp will drop)

If that is true, you should switch editors (I perfer scmd) redownload/install your editor and/or update it and then redo the triggers. I say this because I just got an error from scmd classic trigger editor that your triggers dont follow .chk format and i have no clue about what else could be wrong and I dont feel like going through your triggers at the moment.

i went right ahead and downloaded your map to see what every1 was talkin about and when i played it by myself it crashed my broodwar. i then was just foolin around to see what the problem was and i deleted uhh the cerebrates the buildings in top left and the heros/mins and it didnt crash me after that tongue.gif

Um, I use starforge, my scmdraft doesnt work as well since im don't have broodwar, the damn cds somewehre in my room just cant find it.

Ill take a look again at my triggers and post up anything that might be confusing to me.

Oh almost forgot, I use proedit to protect the maps before I test them.

Thats one other thing, the cerebrates dont crash me, well at least it doesnt online, i never tried in single player, I might just be that mineral, im not too sure.

Okay smart one, explain why a certain diplomacy map drops all players in the game if you get over 100 units in your army? It drops, not crash. If any of us knew the exact answer than there would have been one post and this whole conversation would be over. The problem would be solved, but its not, cuz none of us KNOW the problem, we are all just guessing and trying it out to see if it works. Way to try to make yourself look smarter than everyone else though.

Its called a server split. I'm unsure of how that works but useally when theres a lot of triggers running at once with a lot of players. And i know there are a lot of actions running constantly in diplo maps. This can usally be fixed by organization of triggers. Maybe thats the problem you should reorgnize your triggers.

Oh and and omega, why dont you have BW. Its like free. Go get it from some pirated site or something. You shouldnt use starforge or scmd if you don't have broodwar. They mess stuff up with it.

I have BW somewhere, i dont trust those pirated sites, i was going to download it on limewire but im trying to find the exact size of the folder with the maps or at least the exact size of the files on the cd, jsut to make sure.

Btw im still checking over the triggers, some of the stuff just got me stumped ill post it in a bit.

Actually, I downloaded one in Morheus. It is the actual crack, but after the update, it prevents you from playing it again. So, the cracks only work on Single Player. closedeyes.gif

Just download a starcraft.iso, use nero and burn it to a cd than install it. It works perfectly.
.iso-a perfect image copy of a disk.

I have a similar problem with my map. It's a 3 vs 3 map, and the third player on one of the teams disappears from the game - as if he'd never even joined. Maybe it's just been a coincidence and that player has quit during the briefing or something, but I don't really know. Has this happened to anybody else?
