First of all I don't know if this has been done yet or not for a competition or if this should even be in this forum but here goes anyway.

Alright my idea for a competition is to make custom AI scripts and have them played against other peoples custom AI scripts. It could be 1v1 or FFA or whatever it doesn't really matter as long as there are witnesses to watch the match. In addition to the AI scripts you could have a melee map making contest go along with it and have the AI scripts play on them. So basically this would be a AI script modding contest and a melee map making contest. If anyone here is interested in organizing a contest like this I will be willing to offer cash prizes through pay pal.

I like this idea biggrin.gif

If you wan't I can donate some money for the cash prize. I think this will be a very good start on a new kind of competition.

Fun and exciting wink.gif

In order for this competition to work there would have to be quite a few entries to be able to make it worth while. It would be really interesting to see what people come up with for AI scripts and then have them battle it out to see who has the best one.

You could also have people playing against people, and then the best person plays the best AI. wink.gif

The question is: "How many people know how to make a AI?".

I don't know how, but if the competition goes underway, i'm sure I will be willing to learn how to.

If this really does turn into a competition, I will donate $30 to the winning prizes.

I think there should be a recquirement on the map and rules for the competition. I was thinking something like, the melee map is made for 4 players, and at least 4 people have to enter for competition to be valid (or more) so that all 4 AIs can play each other in one map at the very least.(other 4 for witnesses/judges)

Learning to program AI scripts is about as easy to learn as HTML which isnt very complicated, although making a decent script that would actually work well would take some time. I was thinking of having brackets like a normal melee contest. The player versus AI script is an interesting idea but I really doubt that the best melee players could be beat by an AI script.

I'm not sure what requirements there could be, but I do know that using the give resource command would not be allowed.

Great idea, but as BeeR said, you'd need a good number of entrants.

Rofl Mystical fooled me with that avi, I thought my account was hacked or an old topic was revived happy.gif

How many people out there would be interested in entering? Need at least 20 to make it interesting...I will pitch in $30 for prizes if there are enough people willing to enter and actually complete an AI script.

I would but i have no idea how to start learning AI, let alone make a good one.

Maybe if you could *coughpaycough* get someone to write a tutorial for the comp or something..

Scaiedit 3.1 has a tutorial in it I believe, it tells you everything you need. Also you can just look at the scripts that blizzard made and learn from them. I learned how to make scripts when Scaiedit first came out by just using the program and looking at other scripts. I have forgotten exactly how to make scripts now because I quit playing SC for quite awhile but I have recently begun to play around with them.
