Okay, I try to save a file right.. I go to file, save as, and when I put the name, for example, "Zombie Attack", it says : Could not open file 'c:\program files\starcraft\maps\download\zombie attack.scx' for writing
What the crap!? Is that a bug? I dont know whats wrong, but I hit "FILE, SAVE AS" not "FILE, OPEN" .... And its starting to get me F:censored:G TICKED!
WHAT TEH CRAP!?
Somebody help me, PLEASE..
I'm using X-tra Editor v2.6 Special
try saving it with a different name or add v1.2 or something
It's currently in use by another program. Close all other programs, namely Starcraft, that are using the file and try again. It should work.
I have been for the past 20 minutes.... :9 I really dont want to remake the map..... I REAAAAAAALLY dont want too =/
ADDITION:
And SC is closed. Would a bot affect it? =/
Is it open in another editor? Try just closing all programs.
Everything is closed except for IE, AIM and the Editor.

And nothing still.. I dont know whats wrong. Could the Editor be corrupted or something?
if all else fails... copy the entire map and paste it onto a new empty one, and if you have triggers, they should be easily remade.....
And uh, how am I going to copy the map..?
starforge 2
drag the cut/copy/paste line from one corner to the opposite corner, click copy, go to a new map using starforge still, and paste

Uh, I'm not using StarForge. I'm using X-Tra Editor =/
ADDITION:
Been working on this for the past 45 minutes or so.. Whee, I Feel soo loved... *Shoots the editor, YAY!*
I had the same problem but i finally figured it out
Alright like they said it could be in used by another program but if its not that then i'm guessing you have sound in the map.
And u loaded the map in sf after importing the sound in xtra editor.
Then opened it again in Xtra editor and saved and the msg poped up.
but if u open it again in sf you'll noticed the sounds won't be there because sf doesn't allow it(don't know y).
But its no problem just save it again in sf so that theres no sounds imported then open the map in xtra editor.
u should test here if u can save without that msg poping up.
If it works then import the sounds back in again and don't worry about having to enable the triggers again because they all ready are then save and it should work.
This is only if you have music in your map and if this doesn't help you might of understood this wrong our its something else but i had this problem alot and after alot of experimenting i'm pretty sure this is the reason I've also noticed that it still saves the map even though it says it can't so don't freak out to much.
gl with your map
Also, I havent saved it yet. So there for, i -HAVE- to remake it. and I have no back-ups because I wasnt thinking about it at the time...
*Beats the

out of himself*
ADDITION:
And, for the last time. I -DIDNT USE STARFORGE-
I have been using X-TRA EDITOR. I Do -NOT- have STARFORGE on my PC, AT ALL.
Your problem sounds like you have the file open on starcraft. but if you say it was closed...i have no clue what is wrong.
Pfft, I give up. REMAKE TIME...... *Sigh* I really dont want to though.. OH well..

Open the map with winMPQ and delete (listfile).
yo GoC)Sky did you use ANY other editor?
And at the end of my late post i said it still saves the map
just open the map in another editor if u have another one and u'll see it was saved
wow thats one weird error.. dude ur :censored:ed .. remake the map ... I have to remake maps all the time becaues my :censored:ing game blams out on me and I dont save often

if you have music on the map try deleting it sometimes another editor messes up the normal that comes with sc so delete it and open with regular editor

this is why you need starforge it creats a :censored:ing back up file for you...
The map is saved.
It's got something to do with sounds in starforge. Ignore the error.
Thats alright guys. I just deleted the map, and started to work on another project.

Thanks for the help...

The error pops up when the map was incorrectly saved in another editor
Staredit still saves the map tho, so you could have just opened it in winmpq and made a new mpq file and it would be fixed.
