Teh lifted building train!
This is a weird effect made by lifted buildings.
[map attachment added]

If you're too lazy to download/don't have starcraft installed

Here is a screenshot: (will add more if anyone wants)
(they are moving in game, lot better looking)
[attachmentid=14365]

I wanted them to move in a link pattern like that using "order", but I noticed how the "order" trigger can't command an exact amount units, so I set a 1 millisecond hypertrigger for Player 8 and firstly

-the starting units were 500 stacked lifted starports for player one,
-a location was placed on these 500 starports called "cc"
-Using 1millisec hypertriggers I gave one command center to p2 from p1 on preserve.
-(also using the same hyper)a trigger was on preserve to move all starports at "cc" for player two to another loc

(there is probably other ways such as using switches or something)

So yeah, that made the command centers move...creepily...

I recommend watching the map, it's funny the first time you see it.

I did this out of randomness, don't know if it's that "great" but I thought it was a cool effect..

[Watch by yourself, two might lag a little]

Too many units required to be useful.

..what?

Do you go and inspect my posts for grammar? I don't care if I made like 1 word out of 300 messed up..

Oh and moose, I know, but you could use like...30 for an effect or something.. in a dance..place..thing

(I wasn't pointing this out to make it in maps, just thought it would be neat.)

Maybe you could use this in some "dodge worm" game or something. wink.gif

It's pretty cool, but like moose said, too many units. Besides, 30 would make a pretty crappy effect.

cigarette grenade. Also tiny but bugs me.

This is going to be a precursor for making extreme 3d starcraft maps.

Aw man that is awsome. Maybe ill use it in a map some time....

Did you try it with other liftable buildings?

Yes. They all have a unique smudge.

Not if you think about how many units it consumes.

You only need 500 is you intend on making it that big...

Actually this has a use. It could be used for waterfalls and terraining. It would work in a constant cycle. Would be a great use for terrainers. And this has no 3D effect at all it just looks cool.

It does too have a 3Dish effect.. when it goes from going downwards and left to upwards and left it looks like they are falling from the sky. You just need to know what 3D aspects are.

Oh, and thanks ChuoS for warning, he really needed it.

Amen

Well, whats the point of a 3Dish effect if only a critic would know it's there.
If it's not too much trouble, could you do it with some other buildings. I'd really like to see how it turns out tongue.gif.

Bleh, just open up starforge/scm draft, select the group of CCs, properties and change the unit type by like one number or something.

Here is a usefull stack effect for buildings that align well (like the factory)

take advantage of the Z plane for depth to make extra high walls

have a look at the pic.

The wall was created with triggers and preplaced units, its tricky to get the desired order for the buildings to go over eachother.
As a rule, floating buildings created before others will be drawn above them
But if your deleting units SC will recycle the unit slot, and it may mess up the order.. its tricky but can be a very cool Base wall when used right

The buildings can be disabled to prevent the player from needlesly selecting them, but then you have to make sure detectors will not see the building, or else your wall will become one big shadow.. unless thats the desired effect.
A Cloud effect can be made this way, but they will blur units bellow them.

Enjoy

lol thats a pretty cool affect. Try and make a game called "snake" using this effect biggrin.gif

To my knowledge there is already a game called snake, this is a really cool effect though, I especially liked it when they went straight downwards so it was just a huge shadow because each one shadowed the one below it smile.gif. I think this is usable for something.....
