If I try to use StarEdit, or ANY other editor the tilesets are SUPER DARK. My Monitor is 100% Brightness and Contrast, when I am playing starcraft it is NOT Dark at all - its fine. But when using an editor it is SUPERDARK to the point I cannot work! Does anyone know WTF?
Did you try all the tilesets? Got some screenshots?
I think you have posted in the wrong forum. The reason its so "DARK" is because you dont know your computer.
kept just help the dude so we can get on with are lives and dont say he dont know his own comp ALOT of us dont thats why its ar ejob to help him

I know computers very well. This is an issue with Software - and you don't know how to fix a problem you never encountered. Being smart I rather try to find someone who has encountered it before.

Compare that to what your StarEdit looks like when it is open please.
I am going to Download Photoshop 7, (This computer was just formated)
Doesn't look darker.

Been to the eye-doctor lately?
I can't think of anything that would cause it to be darkened.
Thats dirt terrain, not Ash World, and Dirt is Brown, almost light brown. Not BLACK! So far no help at all. I have ran this on my Laptop and its MUCH MUCH lighter. Its a problem with software.
are you talking about the grid lines...?
He said it happens with staredit, so it can't be that.
I've been taking a lot of heat from some wonderful friends claiming I don't know what I am talking about with regard to it being to dark. To clarify, it is dark if I use StarEdit, StarForge, Campain Editor, X-Tra Editor, ANY editor.
Heres a screenshot of when I am editing (Color on my computer is GREAT, its only super dark on the tiles etc on the editor.) VS. how the tiles should really look (Taken from when playing StarCraft because I cannot do it anywhere else because all my editors are super dark.)

I have no Gamma problem in StarCraft. I have a problem in StarCraft editors though.
Dude, the reason you THINK it's dark is because you're accustomed to it's Über-lightness in SC. Change the gamma correction until they look the same, then you're set.
No, I've seen it work correctly on my laptop which I don't have right now because the power cord went bad. Thats just way too dark for me to work with. The Water is the same color as the dirt..
Listen to us, change the gamma on Starcraft. The editor screenshot is how the game is supposed to look, too. Unless you somehow like the totally bleached version...
omfg, Thats not how its supposed to look, I know this for 100% sure. I've seen StarCraft editors on atleast 5 different computers.
Yeh i think it might be gamma for youre whole computer.
I have a slightly similair problem when some shades of grey and white turn out bright pink. Only this computer can see it, i changed between 4 different monitors, nothing. The software thinks its ok, but it must not be. And theres my sound, which has done the same thing, software says its there, turn on speakers, no sound comes out.
Its just 1 of those bastich things ull have to spend forever trying to fix.
what im saying is its like my pink problem, we think Starcraft is to bright because we see it like it really is, but because the brightness is way up it looks normal to you, then the normal terrain looks dark, and because of some software problem it actually is really dark.
If your desktop is still bright, that seems a bit strange. If the editors are to dark, why wouldnt your desktop be?
Ive had same problem with waredit when i tried it.
Its annoying, and when u put the units it went back to normal..
Is it same for u, or is it all-around dark?
I have a weird issue with my dual monitors displaying the brightness of SC maps. I have two identical monitors using the same settings on everything. Most windows look the same on one as they do the other except there is a major differance in the brightness in Staredit from one to the other.
A universal problem with Blizzard editors..
this happened 2 me b4....with my 59 years old computer.
ok here are my screens, they look close to the same and i got my gamma correction set so they would. but no matter what, the editor will look a bit different, but i dont see how ur's is so dark you cant see anything?
o wow i guess i have the same problem with this computer cause my terrain is super dark i thought it was the monitor but its not so how do i change this gamma thing
When I get my Laptop back in a few days I'll show you guys what it looks like and you'll be amazed.
On this though, the Water and Dirt are almost pitch black, the units are all like Dark templars, almost transparent because they are so dark against the terrain. I'm totally sure theres something wrong. The screenshots I showed actually lightened them about 20%.
