I was thinking of makin a map where you are the runners and the computer is the defender. it would work somethin like this:

You choose what you want to run for first level, using civs to select things (stronger runners take more civs).
Random triggers for computer players so they dont always have the same defense.
Based on what the computer kills it gets new defenders (eg. sunks)
depending on how far you get, you get more civs to have a better run.

Thats just a basic outline but i wanna know what people think before i start so i don't waste my time. i will add more interesting things once i know this wont be a crappy map.

ADDITION: Well i have done the terrain (nothin special, def maps usually arent fancy with the terrain.) and im gonna start on the triggers. I'm not sure how to get the comp to make their units hold positon so i'll stick to random buildings for now. I'll post a working beta version soon.

Also for a defeat condition i was thinking there could be a max amount of attemps (maybe 50 or something) otherwise the game could go on forever until you win.

Sounds a bit like Offensive Strike but instead of attacking, you try to run past the computer. Interesting...

Alright now ive got some stuff working i'll list some updates and soon i'll release a beta ver just to give people a general idea of the map.

So far its for 2 players, i might add a 3rd if 2 player version works well.

Runner Spawns: 1/18 (just started)
Randomized Defender Spawning: 3% (bunks and sunks)
2 Players: 0% Tp be started

A key part of defenses is unit placement, in which you place your units in the right places to maximize damage. In ground-only defenses, the unit placement often determines victory by guiding the computer units into a path that will kill them quickly and efficiently.

To reverse this is not exactly a bound, but like Hitok1r1 said, still very close.

Should you not make it where you get more civs for not making it as far since you need to break their defence? And the farther you get the less civs you get since their defence is pretty weak and not holding you off? That is just my 2 cents anyway.

You should make it similar to a bound so that you have to acutally do something other than just click run to finish

thats actually a good point i will do tomorrow im goin to sleep now so i'll do tons of stuff tomorrow.

And with its boundy-ness i'll do something that either makes it more boundy or less boundy depending on what more people would like.

ADDITION:
Alright i thought of a new idea so you dont just click somewhere and ur units run there. There will be multiple paths that will pass by the computers units and you will have to choose which route to take where you have the highest chance of making it or somethin like that. These might criss cross or have dead ends some times or maybe even randomly some paths could be cut off. This should make the game a bit more interesting

I'm also making it so that the longer you last, the less new civs you get becuase if you last a long time their def obviously sucks and this will balance the game out a bit and make it harder.

There will be random placement of the computers defenders so your not alwys running down the same path every time and so the game won't be identical every time you play it.

This will have multiple players so you will need teamwork to beat it, and it will also get harder with more people. (more defenders or more cut off paths ect.)

Hopefully this will be more interesting than the previous idea.

more like runner d bound thingy idonno

but it does sound great tell you the truth..

my only thing is... the bad guys denfense have to be good and yes it should be random

and it should be who can run to the end first obviously you knew that but just saying it...

so its kinda like run to the end first with picking better units then other ppl...

maybe there should be other ways to stop your enemy from reaching end first???
or maybe even allowing you to distoring the stuff your defender has
bad wording but try to understand what im saying it will make sence good luck
im looking forward to thsi

I've thought about that idea before, but Im not skilled enough to make it. Hope you will success with it smile.gif

You could add things like Dark Archons or Corsairs to help you get past the enemy defenses (with things like Maelstrom, Ensnare, Disruption Web).

You could purchase them for one time only for something like say, 2 civs.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by RedNara on 2005-10-13 at 21:45:00
maybe you can buy a ghost or something that does 9999 dmg and if it kills 1 thing it goes away i donno you can do the same for Dark Archons or Corsairs just like what Voyager7456(MM) said sounds good to me...

Well the map is comin well so far but iv only spent about 2 hours on it but my parents are both gone till sunday so i'll work on the map lots this weekend.

oh and thx for the suggestions i like the corsair and dark archon idea.

Sounds kinda boring though, you'ld just be running through things while being attacked.
A maze map or a bound map would be kinda the same thing but better.

I like the way you reverse-enginered the typical defense map though.

I wonder if you can reverse engineer an conventional rpg map. Where you're the one in control of the mass swarm tring to kill the comp heroes. If Citiy of Heroes can be reversed into City of Villans, then sc may be able to imitate it.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by www.com.au on 2005-10-16 at 08:30:53
a MASSIVE problem would be the humans attacking the defending computers.

unless u make humans allie the computers and dis-allow force firing...
Report, edit, etc...Posted by RedNara on 2005-10-16 at 16:39:25
just put your units to 0 dmg... that fix the problem pretty fast...
