I see how people have developed pretty neat looking terrain. I was wondering how you do it? Like for instance the creater of "Love and Hate RPG". How he made that waterfall, and the beach. I tryed doing it with the pallette in starforge, and i cant seem to figure out how he did it without it looking "Squarish"
anyone know?
sorry if i sound like a total newbie =]
thanx!

Well, let me tell you this.
It's not something that you can just learn over night. I am not even that good at it. People like WoodenFire and Rantent are fantastic at it. What you can and should do is, just start with basic things like blending ramps and such. Then work your way up to harder things.

just blend things to make it look natural and not awkward

I see, but I dont know which parts to blend, thats my problem with it all. I know you must blend, but when using SF It only allows SQUARE palleting, i cant overlap it with original..

...please don't be a newbie yourself... Don't be mean? How was that mean? He was just helping him. Legacy was right. People need to stop replying with that only, they should at least say something about the topic.
Besides, it shouldn't have been to moved to terrain anyhow. Maybe freelancers.

Ok, basically what you need to do to make it not look "squarish" (often referred to as blocky here) is to scour the pallette for stuff that matches, there isn't some magic trick, its mostly just trail and error, as well as having a good eye for what might work.

And if all else fails make a bunch of random terrain and use the brush tool.
