Staredit Network -> Portal News -> Legacy Of The Confederation 2 Released!

Okay, it's really old news, since it came out on May 9th, but the final two missions of Legacy of the Confederation II, the once halted project that is arguably one of the best campaigns made for StarCraft ever, is finally released after...two years (I think) of delay.

Of course, it is a "mod" since they were sued and all by Blizzard for calling it a campaign, and the story line might seem a tad weird (it was devised pre-Brood Wars), but it is a very high quality campaign that you should try regardless. Custom music, new units, portraits, voiced, and even cinematics. Go try it out at Campaign Creations or look through the project at NexusCore.

I enjoyed the music, units, portraits, voices and cinematics, but I thought the actual maps were rushed. Put me, bolt, and tux together and you got yourself some ownage wink.gif

Heh, toss you three guys and have you uys make the maps. Pretty soon, Blizzard will be sueing you guys for making better campaign than them.

There are more nifty thing to do on the maps that will actually enchance them for the campaign. In fact, since they are modding it, they could have actual sprites like lasers beams and holograms and stuff like that in the game. They haven't caught up with the map making "technology" these days.

However, Fallen Angel was truly a gem. I think they should compile all their games into a big mod like that.

Its amazing how the map making community has shaped staredit. We screw up Starcraft's engine so bad its not funny.

But, god do we enjoy it, just completed them all, and now trying to work out how all the nifty triggers were done in the maps, since they are locked, why not have a go at them and see how they were done yourself!

It was kind of impossible since my menu mods overpowered it. tongue.gif
They should have replaced the menus. It doesn't take that much space.

I'm currently at the beginning of 21, and I would really want to know how they did the attack animation of Phobos. Now I want to really implement that into my maps. Ahh well...

EDIT: Whoops, posted something I shouldn't have...

I downloaded and played them all last night and i thought they were pretty nice, but i do agree with yoshi the terrain and maps looked a little rushed.

They are not rushed, remember these are nothing like the games mainly played here, for these are made to a set purpose, i thought the map for Mission 21 was amazing, just made with one purpose in mind, without having to use it all.

The attack was changed using new .grps created and input through WinMPQ.

I know your right, the maps are amazing, but i think the terrain detail could have used a little work happy.gif

Well, some of them are many years old, and i doubt you were around then, i was, and at that time, they were amazing terrain and all...

Heh, I realized that when I loaded it with normal SC. When the Oracle releases the script for Episode 3, somebody should attempt to make it into a campaign that's basically "updated" with all the new map making techniques, along with MPQ enchancements.

Too bad, I would've enjoyed another episode due to the plot line and all instead of a text file. Oh well.

Sadly you will not be able to do that, unless you want to be sued. I've been around that place a long time, when Desler was in charge, and that ended badly as well, with campaigns being removed and all. Half the number left now.

He likely wouldn't allow you to just make EIII of LotC, you would have to make a different campaign of different type, but maybe based on that campaign. So you could, if given permission, include some of the characters for talks, but nothing more than that.

Hmm, good point. Believe it or not, I was there as well (though I was kinda....burrowed in the ground watching from a safe distance, like Oi). Anyways, I do remember how .org came into being, so yeah, I'll probably be sued if i tried to continue it. Unless someone gets written permission (yeah right) I guess this campaign's dead from now on. A real shame really, it had a great plotline going for it.

You know what would be neat? If NexusCore would release the script, and then have a competition of who could make the best campaign out of that. But hell would freeze over before that'd happen.
