Simple, PLEASE! explain to me how you know what is simple is, when i have yet to see one piece of work of yours on this forum. how is this in anyway simple most of the stuff i've done no one else has tried every one sticks to the easy tile sets jungle or badland. ranting.gif :censored:ing some stupid people on this forum i swear.

Wow, those are some nice pieces.

A lot of great blends, it must be a lot more complex on other tilesets and I can't even do those kinds of things on Jungle =\

yeah i agree
Report, edit, etc...Posted by WoodenFire on 2005-10-21 at 15:55:45
It isn't as clean as jungle... and for one thing, ive tryed most tilesets... space is quite possably, at least for most terrain makers, one of the ezieast terrain pallets to make things up that don't blend well, but just make you smile...

I don't think your in a possition to say we are newbs for using jungle... I would like to see some of your jungle originals...

thankya

Whats this collection for? Didn't you already post these?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by SS_Dark-Marine on 2005-10-21 at 18:45:19
woah woah mr. wooden, first off i aint calling anyone that nerdish word "newb", i was just stating that everyone or atlease the majority does jungle or badlands and that i am trying something different so dont go putting words in my mouth retard. Next, i would LOVE to proove you wrong by doing some jungle tilesets but frankly i dont have the time anymore to do terrain all this stuff is stuff i did over the summer, also space pallet isnt the easiest or else everyone would being doing terrain on that from what i seen threw out this forum is badlands, jungle with a few expection here and there so why dont you move on and try a differnt tileset before you can say blam to me, smartass.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Syphon on 2005-10-21 at 19:08:40
But he's right, space is quite easy.

And newb isn't a nerdish word. nerdish isn't even an english word.

Leingod...a quick piece of advice in life. You cannot judge anything if you cannot do it yourself. And the questions that you have asked in this forum on how to do certain tiles demonstrates that you have no idea how to do this stuff and therefore your mouth should be shut until you have done some on your own worth any recognition.

ADDITION:
I would like to add that i am not going to state my opinion on how skilled/original this is because i have not really tried any of this myself. It looks good to me though.

Newb isn't either...what is your point.

either is newb, and yes it is a nerd slang, invented by gamers who sit on there fat asses all day and play counter strike or some other game like that but what ever i'm done with this. try posting some other work on this forum and people just dont seem to understand where i'm coming from so whatever.

Newb is an appriviated form of newbie, which I assure you wasn't invented by fat nerdy gamers.

(Well maybe, but who knows?)

QUOTE(The Wikipedia)
It can be both a disparaging and friendly term, always referring to a neophyte, or someone who behaves as such.

The word itself is likely a corruption of new boy; a new arrival in a school and who is, therefore, vulnerable to bullying of various kinds, such as hazing or fagging.

It is also used in various clubs and organizations for new members, sometimes also subjected to traditional / creative initation. On Google's Usenet archive, the word first appears in 1988 [1].

The term was used prior to this as slang in the U.S. Military to denote men who had finished technical school (so no longer a recruit and rookie) and were just arriving to their first permanent assignment.

Wikipedia that's who.

Well, you seem to like those tilesets a lot. But, in my opinion jungle is harder to blend than space. Yes, I have made pieces on space, I just haven't submitted them because of various reasons. But they both require skill and your pieces look pretty good so NJ.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by glytchur on 2005-10-21 at 23:23:23
i messed around with space once, only trying to find a way to make cliffs in it, but i couldnt, and thats where i stumbled upon the hexagon shaped structure thing i made (in desert)...
and yur twilight stuff is pretty cool...
and wooden, why dont u make something in other tilesets and stop tellin people there noobs cuz they try something in other tilesets to get something original...
and i still dont get why people say jungle is the hardest tileset to blend in, i mean, it has so much stuff to blend with, it has the cliff things, and the bridge to dirt pieces and many many other things that can make cool blends like woodens shown...

I still don't see why we need a collection of your work.

First of all, sorry if I turned your "Collection" into a flammer's party... I actually got Glytcher to say I called someone a newb in all the confusion! I never directed the word newb at someone, reread the posts...

I enjoy seeing well done pieces, with buildings, units, correctly placed sprites, custom doodads, and stuff to spice of the terrain, I see that you put some in, but lack other doodads which can enrich the environment's feel to the gamer. But, as I can see... you don't make maps, you only do terrain. So this makes me think your not a pro at triggers, and don't have to worry about sprite #s, or how to actually combine your terrain in a way that will maximise the in-game look, feel, playability, and movment capabilities for the users.

There is a lot more to think about when your actually making a working map. I would like to see you begin a twilight map, or space map using all of your creations.

Sorry for trashing your thread a little, and I hope it recovers to become a more productive thread then my WoodenFire's Collection, which turned into a several pages long, flame-fight.

Which he probably is anyway.

oh ok wooden, i reread yur post... i guess u didnt really call any1 a noob, but ya, like u said, doodads and well placed sprites are really good, but mainly u have been able to do that near perfectly
Report, edit, etc...Posted by WoodenFire on 2005-10-23 at 15:23:43
Deathhawk, your post will just prolong this... ugg, end? lol I don't kno how to stop a flame-fight when people keep reposting comments on the tip of ther tongue.

I accually know trigger quiet well and have made maps in the past, but as i said i dont have the time anymore to make map which is why i dont go all out on the terrian with doddads and sprites i just trying blending stuff together in other tilesets to help give others idea or to move away from the tilesets that have to overly used i dont intend to use any of my terrain for and maps. Besides i prefer not to use sprites because i see them as cover ups to flaws in your terrian or as a easy way out to blockyness i believe a good terrain if one where you dont have to use any sprites cause it already blends perfectly, doddads on the other hand do add to the enviroment but as i said i dont tend to use these for maps just trying "NEW" things, which very few recongize me for but i thank those who do.
