Does placing corpses of units crash the game?
Depends, if it is in "Crashed" folder.
Those marine and hydralisk corpses.
and do they vanish or do they stay on the map for the entire game?
The will vanish. But you can use the ghost and marine corps on the installation terrain but it won't look very nice unless your map is on installations.
It will eventually vanish, WarCraft II takes a minute for the corpse to be gone, for WarCraft III, that takes usually more than 30 minutes. Besides, if the corpses will stay on the map, it will of course overload if there are over 1700 corpses.
In depth: Yes, you can place corpses. In the death iscript, the unit is killed and a corpse sprite is placed on the ground. This is not a unit. All corpse sprites are self executing animations, meaning they begin an uninterrubtable animation sequence upon creation, so yes the corpses will go away. The dead marines in the Installation tileset arw a different sprite, and are part of a doodad. These have no animation and will not vanish.
And no, placing corpse sprites shouldn't crash Starcraft.

The only thing is that is cant find that sprite. installation only has those machine sprites.

Ok, i found the sprites but when i try to place them, starforge crashes.
