Looks ok, just put a little work in the water before the waterfall, near the bridge, it looks like installation floor, consists of squares but after all it's nice.

Very blocky...
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Arbitrary on 2005-10-28 at 17:56:00
It doesn't seem to have continuity in the "movement" of the water, likely due to your placement of water tiles. The right edge is basically detached as well, so it looks more like a sheet fluttering in the wind than a waterfall. Also, the bottom left just abruptly stops and the whole left edge appear connected to the wall. I think you get the idea of the waterfall but not how to space it or use everything properly.

This is just to point out what's wrong, not to go OMG YOU ARE THE SUCK!!

4/10

Nice bridge though, excepting the block thing at the end.

The right end of the bridge. One-tile wide thing that stands out a lot from the rest of it.

o yeah didnt notice that :/
but i still dont think that constitutes as VERY blocky

That is pretty cool on how you made that. I thought it was an actual sprite of a waterfall at first

Holy shiz dude, if that's your first then I think you have a lot of potential with terrain.... That's really good for a first. I don't know if you understand what the other people meant with the waterfall not seeming to have continuity, I think it means that the waterfall's edges should never curve like that they should just be like a line straight down. GJ for first try 7/10.

most people dont post their very first try at terrain they work on it for a little bit. til they get the rythem. unless this guy has plain talent

i think most of us are good at it or else we wouldn't post our terrain. most of us are board as junk. so we just do terrain.

kinda good waterfall, no effects?

cliff has some wrong peices... its ok for now, before glytcher's 2nd edition of cliff making, id expect nothing more then around 50% wrongness

good try anyways... gives me some ideas, so thats good.

I'll just reiterate what was said when I posted my waterfall:

The tree sprites are unnatural. Place them where their roots would make sense, and spread them out more.

Also, the tiles you used for the waterfall contrast too much, making it look blocky. Try using the darker water tiles for the waterfall; it blends more.

Edit: I also noticed that you repeated the same two cliff types for each level. Vary the cliff types more.

pretty good but im sure you can make it better just looking at it for a while and editing it
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Sipher on 2005-11-08 at 23:48:52
Well a bit blocky, but seriously, what can you expect from a first try. It's good you posted your terrain so you can get tips and help on it. It is always good to post your terrain and ask for a bit of help, because most people on here are willing to help you make perfect terrain. Good job on it. Just work a bit on the blocks.
