ok when i run a mod it plain out doesn't work any ideas?? i follow the steps to the letter but then it just doesn't work im so confused
You have to put your modded files in a MPQ and place em in the correct file path in the new MPQ (same as path you extracted them from)
Now load the MPQ with MPQDraft and it should have all the changes you made
let's begin..you modify your units.dat (extracted from patch_rt with an mpq viewer) then create a new mpq file in your mpq viewer and then select add and add your units.dat remember units.dat goes in arr\ so save as arr\units.dat
now open mpqdraft and find the mpq you just created and run it by selecting starcraft in both bars components and programs click next then "browse for mpqs"
find your mpq and then next and end.
ummmm ok thats what i do and it still doesn't work so any other suggestions??
Thats what I do also but it works...is it giving you any error messages?
Edit: Also I was wonderring if your saving the files as arr\units.dat before you put it in a mpq since that can cause errors
Yeah when you in WinMpq you gotta make it Arr\ or it wont work than go to Tools > MpqEmbedder and make it into an mpq and than go to Mpq draft.

do thisnow what you do is
make a folder called "my_1st_mod"
now under that folder make another
one called "arr" now save any
thing you change into the "arr" folder
and if you change units they must be
called "units.dat" or if you change
weapons you must save it as "weapons.dat"
ok? if you call it any thing else your
mod wont work ok with that done un-zip
the 3 files i attached and put a copy
of MPQ Compactor.jse in the same folder
that the "my_1st_mod" is in and when
ready drag the "my_1st_mod" folder into
the MPQ Compactor.jse and it will pop up
for a second and then close it self and
you will have 2 files, one MPQ file and a
TXT file called "MPQ Compactor Script.txt"
put them in the my_1st_mod folder now
un-pack "MPQ Draft" and click on the
"MPQDraft.exe" and click on "creat self
executing mpq" and name the mod "my_1st_mod"
and click on "input mpq filename" and find
the "my_1st_mod.mpq" now click on output
SEMPQ executiable filename and go to
the my_1st_mod folder again and type my_1st_mod
as the file name once that is done click on
starcraft under the programs "list" now click
on starcraft under the componets "list"
now next now it will flach up for a sec, now
close MPQ Draft and go to the my_1st_mod
folder and click on the "my_1st_mod.exe" it
will stat starcraft with your changes running
also you know how to use Win MPQ i would
susjest using that instead on the compactor
(i think its easer to make suer you get all the
files you wanted in)
now to "un-do" the changes just start starcraft
normally
